i didnt know that was the purpose of this board.. i thought it was to hash out the good, bad and ugly of any and all things live related.. to yahoo.gif when they bring it, to be aggressive.gif when they dont.. and even to cry.gif a little... for the fans BY the fans

for years this has been my first place to come for info regarding dates, releases, and yes, sadly even news about the bands demise.... but "promotion"? that has a rather formal connotation to it. so do tell Nick, i think you owe the folks here at least some disclosure.. i.e., the capacity in which you continue to post. is it as Nick, life long Live fan, or Nick, Ed's twitter and FB admin? can we even separate the two anymore?

i do not begrudge you an awesome opportunity to work w/for one of your musical favs - but if Ed has somehow "bought" a piece of FansofLive, explicitly or implicitly via your role- i think we deserve to know.

Yup, Nick just proved everything we thought of him and his stance on music.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Jun 1 2010, 12:59 am) *

If a talented singer/songwriter wields a rocking band for over a decade, and then gets older and loses his spark, then that singer/songwriter may have digressed of natural causes. The singer would have not then ruined the band.

If a talented singer/songwriter wields a rocking band and is vital to the bands success, and then loses his skill and screws his band members at the tail end the bands union, he still didn't ruin the band. The band in that configuration was already thoroughly exhausted. If these circumstances might have occured, then he might have ruined his friendships. If you can't rock but want to stay in the game, then you might have to go pop. And if pop meant selling to a new market, then the band decided to go that way instead of splitting right away. I bet Ed wanted to rock badly, and had to make compromises down the line, between his dying voice, lack of inspiring rock material, changes in the music industry, and the end of the alt rock trend.
Ok? If you start to suck or get in a money spat at the end of your career, you didn't ruin the band.

I bought this site to keep Live's name out there. I also didn't want SOY to be the only option for fans to communicate about Live, because I did not like how things were run there.

I volunteer for Ed because I love his music. Before I volunteered for Ed, I held the same beliefs and nothing has changed other than I have more responsibility now than I did before.

To me, I think it is pointless for a huge Ed fan like myself to keep a message board running that basically just puts the guy down. What is the benefit, especially since Facebook has given fans another means of communication?

It is not the first time you say that and please ffs be aware, that Where Freaks Talk has been around LONGER than FANSOL, it NEVER had any troubles with running and shutting down and during the last 6 years that I am running it (after the brilliant administration by the Dutchies), it has no problems at all.

Phrases like these bring me down being full of unbelievable lies.

haha just putting the guy down, we're not giving him a fair go right? It's only been, what, 10yrs since he did something awesome. You gotta remember no one is trolling here. No one is hating on Ed for the sake of it. He was an idol to us all who has severly disappointed a lot of us recently and I think we should be able to voice that opinion. If Ed starts being awesome again then I'm all for that! But no one is trolling your board, you just have to be aware not everyone thinks like you, I still do think you should make it Ed only when Zmans board is up.

Ya it's gonna be nice when zman makes his site. But I can't deny that part of the reason I love coming here recently (as do most of us, look at the traffic on this site in the last many months) is do to the rift between the band and fans and all the bickering that's been going on.
You can't tell me this site was exciting before the first rumors of a hiatus started coming in. I recall barely anyone posting much (besides hoodstock making 10 useless threads a day, though he did it to keep some sort of activity on the site, so thumbs up to that hoodie )
It's human nature, fights and arguments are interesting and everyone loves to have a go, specially when you're anonymous.
But whatever, what will be will be. I'll be on zman's site and this one too.

I got another email from Eddie K today asking me to buy his album. Going to have to take myself off of his stolen email list.

Ed was for a time one of the best artists around. I think it would be safe to say everyone here was drawn in by hearing his voice for the first time, then realized how talented the band as a whole was. We all have a lot invested in him, and even after bad record upon bad record we still hoped and believed it would change. Anyone that could piss on 20 years of friendship and loyalty like he did doesn't give a shit about what us peon Live fans think of him. I love how his defenders paint him as an innocent victim. Blind faith in anyone or anything will always let you down.

Damn, you are speaking my mind there fella. Today on my way to work I was spinning Live outtakes and was thinking: why don't people give him a chance?

BECAUSE HE FUCKING TOOK IT ALREADY. When it was HIS time he fucking grabbed this chance by the balls and fucking tore it off with his youth, rawness and brilliance.

So for now it is very easily and clearly seen what people keep speaking about for the last 10 years. I will not blame anything inside Live though as I do enjoy each song they have made as a band.

YET?

Mate.... The pre-previous version of WFT back in 2003 had up to 500 visits on a daily basis. It is a DUTCH board, what are you talking about? lol.gif

Last several years it has been pretty quiet, but it does not mean it is less quality. For a long tijme it has become not that much of a Live-related board, but a friends-based-on-mutual-love-to-a-band one. Hence the transnational meeting back in 2007 when guys from 5 countries gathered in Holland simply to have a nice time and share a beer.

On topic: please, everyone, stop bugging Nick with his swapping this onderful board to Ed's one.

If he thinks that what he bought, he posesses to the fullest and it is not for the people - than be it. And let him post here alone.

We fucking ALL are fans of the same band, whether relevant or not. It is called FansOfLIVE, not FansOfEd or FansOfPendants yanno. And I completely stand on a point that every single musician, ever involved into Live process, CAN and SHOULD be discussed here.

Full stop
