Every time i come here to read the board i always think of the song from Metallica : FREE SPEECH FOR THE DUMB
I find it really ridiculous how people react every time there is news from Ed
I assume you are all mature people do
do not act so childish
Come on live and let live.
When we live and let live, we don't need to criticize, judge, or condemn others. We have no need to control them or try and make them conform to our way of thinking. We let others live their own lives and we live ours.

I'd rather the board be gone, than have it supporting a band that I don't like.

Leave it for those who are interested in music then. And simply leave Dan as the admin.

I for one still hold hope that there would be Ed's tunes to completely grab my attention and become a soundtrack to 2010

All I can say is that Dutchies are lucky to have such a chance.

Hi-jacking threads will lead to the early demise of this board. I've had numerous Ed fans say that they stopped posting here because they don't want to be attacked by TGF fans. It really is pathetic.

Closing shop may not be a bad idea. I'd rather the board be gone, than have it supporting a band that I don't like.

You should change it to Ed-only when Zman opens his board then, have a clear devide. You have no interest in TGF whatsoever, it would be different if you just didn't like their music but were happy to keep supporting them. But you don't seem to like them personally either, so what's the point?

So long as Ed keeps doing "Eddie K'isms" and making himself look like a dick, there will be people there to trash talk him. Ed's ruining Ed, no one else. So you gotta expect it. You gotta remember that most of us were fans from long ago, we didn't all jump on board in 2003 like yourself, so for us, Ed has changed from what we loved and CT, CG and PD have remained in the same light as what attracted us in the first place. Ed is like a completely different "artist" all together, so it's no wonder he recieves more negativity than the rest. Even you must see the logic in that.

As for scaring off the Ed fans (which are probably completely imaginary), they obviously aren't too big of fans to be scared off speaking their mind. I'm willing to bet they're just all 40 something year old women. People need to grow a backbone seriously, for the most part the insults are directed at ED, not the fans (you're the exception Nick because .. well, you're Nick). But if Ed fans joined this forum they're not gonna get attacked, they're just gonna have to put up with Ed getting attacked, and if they choose not to join because they can't handle that, then that's no one elses fault but theirs, no one is stopping them.

I don't post much on or even read most threads on Ed's anymore is not because I don't have a backbone but because I don't really don't feel like getting in a pissing match about some stupid crap. The main problem I have is reading on every single thread 50 or 60 times by the same posters that the music I listen to sucks or that I don't listen to is real music. There are times where I see who posted last and I know exactly what I'm going to read so why even bother. Take this thread for example, if TGF does the same thing they would get praised but Ed gets ridiculed for it. For the reason that he sells coffee on his website. Now, I'll never buy it but is that really a big deal. If there is a market for it and people buy and like it, so why not sell it. We live in a capitalist society and no one has to buy it if they don't want to.

Now, I don't care if people don't like Ed, TGF, or if someone hates both projects, that's everyone's right but to me it's like a broken record. Maybe it's because I try not to dwell on stuff I don't like, but focus on the things I do like. To me it seems hypocritical that people attack Nick for posting negative stuff in TGF forums, but do the same thing in Ed's forums. Nick has his reasons just like I'm sure the people that post about Ed but it goes both ways. Personally, I wish it would stop on both sides because it doesn't help either side. That's not to say someone shouldn't say anything negative about either Ed or TGF but the constant bitching and moaning is annoying, at least to me. It's kinda ruined a little of my excitement of both albums, but that's why I made the decision not to read or post about too much.

But this is just my opinion, so blast away smile.gif I'm just ready for the summer time to finally hear some new music.

My comments last night were driven by beer consumption but it's how I feel about the band. I'm not here to pick fights or piss people off. LIVE has been my favorite band since the early 90's and I do think Ed was the one that was responsible for the music taking the different direction it has over the past 10 years. While I still bought the albums and listened to their music, it just wasn't the same Live for me. Add on to that some of the stories that have come out about Ed (yeah you can say they are just stories, but frankly there are too many of them) and it just adds fuel to the fire.

So I went to TGF's show on Thursday. The show was awesome, the music rocked, the guys had great energy and were having fun, for me it took me back to my first Live concert (Stabler Arena, Bethlehem, 1994). Yes TGF is not Live, nor are they Candlebox. They are one thing that Live hasn't been for awhile and that's a true rock band. They are the type of band I could listen to for the next 17 years . They are the type of band I could see in concert 20 times. They are the type of band I could drive to Canada to see. They are a band I'd wait in line for hours to purchase a new album. They are the type of band who's album could be in the CD player in my car without being taken out for years to come.

For me TGF is a new beginning and I can't wait for the album to come out. I can understand Nick's position because he became a fan of Ed's LIVE where one person was driving the creative direction of the band over the last so many years. That's the music he enjoys. The majority of us that are excited for TGF became fans of the LIVE of the 90's where the 4 members of the band were ALL involved in the creative process that produced the music we came to love.

My only comment to Nick is practice what you preach. I'd be more then happy to keep my negative comments about Ed out of this thread if you agree to do the same with the TGF thread. We all know you don't like the band which is your choice.

Ok, that's enough blabbering for now. I'll go back to the TGF thread....

That's awesome how genuinely excited you are for TGF. I can't wait to see them in concert also. rockin.gif

As for me, I like both styles of music, which I guess is good for me. Double the pleasure and that's how I'm trying to think about this Live split. Live was the band that got me into music 16 years ago (Throwing Copper was the 1st cd I ever bought). Now I get double the music! Even though I still would rather have Live together, I know that's not gonna happen for a long time...if ever! I just want to enjoy both sides and hopefully TGF and Ed give me that excitement.

There is no future....Santa Claus is not coming. There is a good book by Elizabeth Kubler Ross "On Death & Dying" It's helpful for the stages of loss. Great book. I wouldn't spend a lot of time hoping for them to get back together, if it ever happens I will have aged 10 years. Can I interest you in some Live music to bide your time?

Uh, you have heard me mention that I'm obsessed with 1960s music? Many of my favourite artists are dead, most of the bands disbanded. I've just added Live to the list.

QUOTE(OutToDry @ May 29 2010, 11:23 pm) *

You read the TGF threads, who are you kidding. Youre active in the EK/TGF camp debate threads. Don't let us fans who are angry with Ed skew your openess for quality rock n roll. I goofed with my venom on this thread and did apologize to Nick

I don't read the TGF threads. I haven't for a long time. I will read in threads that say Live or have TGF and Ed or TGF and Live.

its too bad when a live board admin goes to work for the person who ruined Live. sorry for the animosity but this is what happens when bands slinter, the fans choose sides too.
