Yeah, that homecoming show was a let down. Special surprises my a$$. I'll tell ya what the big surprise was, there was nowhere around The Starnd to get beers before the show at that time of day, thought that was very strange. I know it was a weekday, but come on. Everyone we asked was clueless, we finally found some hole in the wall joint a few blocks away that treated us like royalty becasue we actually tipped them.

Anyway, just my opinion, but it has to be a small club/bar. I would think The Strand is to structured to do something unannounced like this, and honestly, how many of us are going to be able to make it to the show, especially not knowing the venue until the day before. I would think that rules out the mentions of the ball park or fair grounds, again just my opinion. Not to go all Nick on everyone, but unfortunately, at this time, besides us on these boards, who else really knows about TGF? And is in the area to go with the short notice of the date and 1 days notice of venue? I think the reality of it dictates it's a small hole in the wall. And that's prob just what the boys want. Some place small, sweaty and dirty, that they can connect with the fans to break out their new sweaty, back down to the roots brand of rock they are going to treat us with. What's the word on this place The Depot? The facebook comment could've been to keep us off their trail. I say that becasue it sounds like there's not really many viable options for them to play based on what I looked up about York bars and the feedback on here.

Again, thanks to everyone for replying. Maybe we'll catch a break in the case!

The thing about the Depot is that it's not the same ownership that it was when the boys grew up playing there. Murph was sick a few years ago and was forced to sell both bars. The new owners aren't nearly as nice as Murph and his wife, and both bars changed.

I believe that a few of the boys worked at Granfalloons before they hit it big. It's a very small place to play, but it would certainly be packed.

Maewyn's is one of the newer bars downtown, that has a decent stage. They used to be called Harp & Fiddle.

Fat Daddy's is another bar that has regular live music and a decent stage.

Yeah it was a complete letdown. Cookie cutter set list and they didn't even play for a longer time. The big surprise was that they brought their JR High Music teacher up to play with them, and at the end they brought their Mothers up and gave them flowers. Since I paid something like $100 for a seat, I was expecting so much more.

I agree with you on not a lot of people knowing about TGF at this point but they do seem to be in good with 105.7 and after they were on the radio the other day maybe some more people in the area would be into seeing them live. They might even announce the show on the radio which I would think on a holiday weekend could draw quite a crowd. I could be wrong though. I was also thinking it would be in a smaller place. York is sorely lacking in venues or even decent sized bars with room for a whole band! That's why I was thinking it was The Depot. Maybe it's just some warehouse somewhere with a stage set up.

If we can't get a recording we at least need a full concert report, although a recording would be best.

After the York Fair years ago I went to the after party at Murph's other bar, I think it was called. It was TINY and Adam got set up to play, but then never did. I'm moderately drunk again (I'm unemployed so it's been a pattern lately) but I did read up there somewhere about Murph not owning things anymore...
anyway, that place was small but really fun. It's the only bar I know in York. I'm from Lancaster County and we don't go to York unless we have to.
that's all I know.

Murph's and the Depot are the same place. I remember Adam playing there a lot a few years back and I know that place was always special to the guys but they are saying that is not the place.

Regardless, I will be there wherever it is! I don't have the means to record it but I'll give a review!

It's two entirely different bars. There's Murph's Study Hall, and Murph's Other Bar, which is known as The Depot. They're a few blocks apart. They were both owned by Murph, but like I said earlier he got pretty sick a few years ago and was forced to sell both bars.

Huh? Ok, sorry I should have said The Depot and Murph's "other bar" are the same place.

Just trying to clear up the confusion. I spent many nights at Murph's during summer breaks. Always loved the "Free Pool Mondays" at the Study Hall.
