QUOTE(Pokey @ May 12 2010, 2:55 am) *

70 minutes of static would have been an improvement, at least some liberal arts student would probably think it's amazing and deep and complex, better than no one thinking it.

Nick does. The River would have sold this album 5 million copies had it been promoted properly. It was a catchy song with great lyrics, don't ya know?

A bit of memories from Jimmy

I had the fortunate chance of hanging out with the guys recently and happy to report everyone is in good spirits, happy with life and where they're at as people and I think it shows in the song writing. In between the writing and recording Ed's busy playing with his new Sony PSP (have you guys seen this thing? I went out and got my own after seeing the graphics on Ed's unit and man it rocks!. Next up - to kick his ass playing multiplayer games (the PSP's support multi-player over 802.11 wireless! Taylor has been following the NBA playoffs and doing his own impersonation of Shaq ("Well you know, I play the game to play the game..") seriously have you seen his press conferences? Gracey is still talking about Star Wars Episode 3 I reckon he probably thinks he was a Jedi in a previous life LOL. Superpat is still busy keeping up with music. I don't think I've met many people who knows so much music as Pat. If you ever get a chance to talk to him and need a recommendation on new music groups to check out, he is your man. I'm always asking him what he's been listening to lately.

Ed and the fellows say hello. The writing and recordings are going well. The new material for the most part is very upbeat and happy with the exception of one song which touches on the "darker" side as Ed puts it. I won't speculate but if I had to guess, I'd say a lot of that has to do with where the guys are at right now. This isn't the angst driven raw energy vibe of early albums like MJ or even TC, but a well polish group of guys who are very tight playing as a band. The drums are so crisp and I saw Patrick using one of his really old Fender Jazz's (oh how I love thee - ala Geddy Lee! on one of the tracks, we'll have to see if it makes it. Taylor's guitar are just right, nice hooks, I didn't hear much solo'ing but then again I didn't hear too many tracks (5 that I can remember). Ed's voice is in great form as usual, didn't hear too much falsetto and didn't hear the deep sounding low end growl at the other end of the spectrum - maybe he's saving that for the "dark" track? With luck, I'm hoping to get some material for the website for Michelle so there should be more news soon.

Just digging out the old stuff and re-collecting the 2005 paranoya and expectations of the new album
The new material? I think I won't say anything because it feeds the paranoia of some of the speculative fans out there. I guess they need something to fuel their overactive imagination and constant whining/bickering. oh all right, I'll let this one out - Chad Gracey does not sing on any of the tracks! OMG!! THE HORROR!

www.chadtaylor.net :

"So much has happened since my last LIVE tour diary entry in December of last year. Just over six month's has gone by in what feels like a couple of weeks. I will try and re-cap but honestly it will have to be in random order and scattered to get it half right.

First, I just returned home to Lancaster from 23 days in Santa Barbara, California where Live has just completed it's seventh studio album. Without revealing too much I will say it's a new direction for our band and I really hope it's well received, I'm thrilled with it myself.

Ed attended an event sponsored by Integral Naked last week. At this event, he performed a new song titled "Sophia". However, there is no word yet as to whether this new song will appear on the new album or not. (Credit: Integral Naked and Susan Cutillo of Connecticut)

BREAKING NEWS

It has been confirmed!

Sources over at FriendsofLive.com have confirmed that Live’s new album, entitled “Desert Solitaire”, will hit stores on November 14th, 2005. Their new single, “Never Cry Wolf” has rumored to hit airwaves sometime in mid-October to pump up the release of the new album. Stay tuned for more details!
And a feedback:
. "...gotta rest up for the upcoming run of LIVE dates. I'm sure I'll see a few of you there! Wait until you hear the new LIVE stuff...you're gonna shit. I've posted the entire rough mixes of LIVE's new release on the internet for your listening pleasure...sike. See ya soon!" Adam is also about to finish a new 7 song EP of his own material, so make sure to keep an eye out for it soon. (Credit: AdamAndTheWeight.com) posted july 28th, 2005

At tonights concert in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania, Live performed 5 new songs that will appear on their new studio album.
Ed announced that the new album will be titled "Songs From A Black Mountain" and will be released circa November 11th.
The first single will be called "The River" and will be released to radio around the end of August.
Other songs to be included on the new album include "Sophia", "Mystery", "Love Shine" and another song beginning with the name "Love".
I have posted the setlist and a couple fan reviews from this concert to the Setlist & Review Section.
(Official confirmation of the new single/album release dates is expected to be announced on Monday).

The show was great as always. The name of the new album is "Songs From A Black Mountain". We heard some songs from the new album. "The River", "Sophia", "Love Shine", "Mystery", and one other I cant remember but it had something to do with love also. It was pretty cool hearing the new stuff before it comes out. My opinion is the new stuff still sounds like Live. Chad said they went in a new direction but I really was liking it. It almost sounds like music from "The Distance To Here".

Review by Jacob Saxon of Columbus, Ohio
The set was pretty short (only an hour; they could have gone longer). The new songs sounded amazing! Love Shines was just alright in my opinion, but the other four were awesome. There were not four new songs, but FIVE. I'm not sure what the fifth one was called, but it also had "Love" in the title.
And here was how it all began...
LISTEN TO LIVE'S NEW SINGLE ONLINE!
Attention Live fans! A streaming version of Live's new single, "The River", is now available to listen to online. It has just been added to the jukebox player on Promosquad's website at http://www.promosquad.com (which streams new songs that record labels send them to get user feedback on). To listen to the jukebox, you must first register a (free) account. Once registered, sign-in and click on the Jukebox to listen to various new songs, including "The River". (Be aware that you must listen to each new song and rate it before the jukebox player gives you a new song to rate. As is the case, it may take awhile before you actually get a chance to hear/rate "The River"). [Credit: Lowell from the band "28N" - http://www.band28n.com ].
Hypothetically speaking you could also say if White Discussion, TBD, Pain Lies, Ghost and TSUFL were on SFBM would it makes it better? ... it's kinda a null point.

I hear you, but my point/question was related to material that was released immediately in around the time of SFBM. I was getting at: why wasn't it just part of SFBM instead?

I didn't mean it as, we could pick from anywhere.

I hear what you're saying tho.

I remember this! Especially the bits about the old Fender Jazz and Taylor's guitar work. I was really looking forward to SFBM - and then we got...'The River sample'

Fook me.

I remember going to the show here in Atlanta that spring right before the album dropped and being so pumped for an awesome album coming out. IMO "The River" really sound good in concert but not so great on the album as did Sophia. This show they also opened with Rattlesnake which blew me away! That was the first time I got to hear that song in concert! I was so siked for the new album and then I got a copy online before the release because I just couldnt wait any longer and...... Holy Fuck this album sucks! So dissapointed after hearing some of the new tunes live and had hearing samples of Mystery. Even Night of Nights offered so much promise but really didnt deliver. Need some different lyrics or more than just repeating " I give you my love" over and over again. The music was great, the lyrics not so much. Its been a big cliff dive every since.

and a fitting one at that, if a little ironic. however forever was a single (at least here) because ive heard it on the radio once, and they did record purifier as well, and maybe even believe.

but as far as official album closers go, NoN is it.
