I don't think anyone's going that far. Though this is the internet, land of unnecessary hyperbole.

Without the unnecessary hyperbole, think of how boring message boards would be? banana.gif

I want everyone who was formally in the band live, who are going out and doing new things, to be successful and happy and produce the best music they can.

I get tired of fans of TGF acting like this new band, which they've barely even heard play yet, is the best thing ever. Let's hear the album first before we pledge our undying love to them!

I get tired of fans of Ed acting like Ed didn't have any role in whatever went wrong with the band because it seems pretty clear he did -- whether it was the wild claims that he stole money or maybe just the fact that Live had clearly become the "Ed Show" and I can understand why the other guys wouldn't get tired of that.

Yet I think Ed -- and it pains me to say this because he acts like such a pompous ass and is obviously VERY full of himself -- has come out of the split looking more mature.

How sad is THAT?

TGF has been busy sniping at Ed and his fans, and it's just a big waste of time and energy. Get out there and get busy rocking our worlds!

Ed has refused to discuss the break-up, which is probably because he can't defend what happened, but by NOT attacking TGF or his former bandmates, he actually seems like the better person.

Ultimately, TGF and Ed's solo act are going to produce two very different types of music. Just because you don't like one of those types doesn't make it bad.

Not naming names, but I find it VERY ironic when someone attacks Ed's fans who don't like the sound of TGF... And yet that person is ALWAYS harping on the fact that he or she doesn't like Ed's sound, so it must be "bad."

Um, hypocrite, much?

In the end, it was a good run, people change, and people move on.

I will be buying both albums and I hope they're both awesome in their own ways.

I understand that and am quite bemused by some talks of "this could be my favorite band" and such, but it's not wrong to be massively excited about the project, especially as more and more is revealed.

TGF haven't been going out of their way to snipe Ed fans, Ed fans have come to them to give them a piece of their mind, so they've responded. I doubt they are really putting any time and energy into it, I dont think they have a big white board up with Ed's face in the middle and a target drawn around it in a meeting room.

When did TGF attack Ed, then?

CT came with an explanation of what happened and why they broke up.
You can barely call that an attack, and as long as there is only his side from the story it seems he was just stating facts and telling the truth.

Now, how is that an attack?!

Please don't go telling bullshit about how Ed 'seems' to be a better person.

So, Ed seems more mature because he doesn't acknowledge his old band and friends at all, not to mention his own fans?

Right.

True, but it makes for silly and senseless debates. Which can be fun!

No one's going that far. This could be my favorite band is not this is my favorite band. Still, even if people were saying that (I don't think even OTD is going that far) it's a fan forum, people acting like diehard fans should be expected.

I think even Nick acknowledges something happened between the guys, he just wants to hear Ed's side before he jumps off the EK train. And again, he's a fan of the guy, acting like a fan, on a fan forum...

Agreed, but we are allowed to listen to music and give our opinions on it, just as it is allowed for our opinions to be challenged. Some people here hate pop rock. That's fine. Some people hate classic rock. That's also fine. It also makes for a lot of forum posting and debates, which is fine too, though it gets silly sometimes.

Everyone acts like a hypocrite at times. smile.gif Call 'em on it.

I'll drink to that, though my personal preferences (as I'm sure are obvious already) have me leaning more towards the TGF side then the EK side, though I probably will end up getting both CDs as well.
