Damn, idiot me, a typo for sure. Too much work. Thought you would understand me anyway.

I mean, there will hardly be any following from aside. And mostly the crowd will be the fans of those 2 bands, who will be eager to hear the old hits as well... Maybe even more than the new stuff

Fair enough. I personally would rather hear 80% TGF material along with some old school covers.

I saw Them Crooked Vultures earlier this year. With Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones there's a heap of material they could use from their respective bands. Most of the people in attendance were fans of Foo Fighters, Queen of the Stone Age and Led Zeppelin but weren't disappointed when all that was played was TCV material.

Completely agreed.

I would rather have TGF and Ed stay away from the sacred Live material at all in fact.

TCV are tremendous, no question about that. One of the most original bands as well, I must say.

Yeah. Ideally, I'd rather have neither act perform Live material, but I understand why it's done...

Why would a person who isn't a Live/Candlebox fan want to hear Live/Candlebox tracks?

Although I would be interested in hearing some 'obscure' LIVE and Candlebox material from TGF, I think I'm starting to fall in favour of what Dan is saying here.

Perhaps covers from other bands initially to fill the setlists, and then once TGF is established (sorta) they can get to playing some LIVE/Candlebox material.

I'm on the fence on this issue now, when I think back to yesterday, when I saw what Ed's been doing with the old material, I'm a little wary now.

I don't know. I would just rather hear TGF's original material for now.

The funnyt thing is, the crowd would cheer much more for the well-known songs than for the new ones.

Inevitable.

An example that comes to my mind is Audioslave.

When they hit Sleep Now In The Fire, the crowd always went mad. Although Cornell could not handle De La Rocha style at ALL.

I am all for the covers.....See the older TGF threads where I am petitioning for some old 70's rockers which are awesome concert gems. I'd love to hear/see these!!!

Black Dog (LZ)
Out on the Tiles (LZ)
Bring It on Home (LZ)
Since I Have Been Loving You (LZ)
Oh Well (Fleetwood Mac)
Young Man Blues (Moes Allison)
Shoot to Thrill (AC/DC)
Shake A Leg (AC/DC)

No, no AC/DC, not now, not ever, not by anyone. I would listen to Eddie K a thousand times over than AC/DC.

I do agree though that the Live/Candlebox songs should be limited, and that they should play all their own material in full ... I've always thought bands that don't play their full new album on a tour obviously aren't that proud of all of it .. it's usually how I can identify what the band considers filler on the album, the songs that don't make the tour setlist.
I would like maybe 1 of each Live and Candlebox maybe as part of an encore or something though ... especially from the Live side, playing some rare tunes would be a nice thankyou to the fans after years of stagnant setlists.

I knew you would weigh in on the AC DC songs. I think those 2 songs have great guitar parts for TGF to follow on. Not sure why you hate them so much. I think they are simple, loud and hard driving....knowing they are from your homeland, makes me wonder why...I know they are long in the tooth and a bit off their rockers!!!!

I'd like to hear some harder cranking versions of Iris, Dam at Otter Creek, FTQRR, 10,000 Years

AC/DC are pure trash to me, the guys voice is just unpleasent, it's just a noise. It doesn't sound like he's singing, he literally sounds like he's in pain whilst trying to gargle mouth wash and communicate with an animal at the same time. How on earth they manage to hoodwink everyone into thinking they're heavy when its just bogan music (an Australian term). Then theres 60yr old men dressing as school kids, doing that same ridiculous hop thing across the stage over and over. They just somehow manage to bring together everything I hate in music into a little package. There are bands I don't like, and there are those I just find offensive, AC/DC is the latter. But if you like them, go for it tongue.gif

Yeah iris could go down well actually! I even reckon they could pull of Waterboy haha.

Yes, Brian Johnson does sound like he has a mouth full of cowshit when he sings....i love a lot of the songs however. I have to say from the Razors edge on, his voice is totally shot.

Yes, I'd like to hear Waterboy.
