I finally got to listen to Honest Man. Brilliant stuff. I love it.

I couldn't help but smile and imagine Gracey beating the skins like a rented mule. Patrick standing their with his eyes closed, grooving with his bass in front of a stack of Marshalls. Taylor crafting those perfectly timed melodies and hand-selecting those notes and rythms from the creative ethosphere. Sean's got some chops and Martin's got some b*lls and and a lot of soul. To think, this is what Chad, Chad and Pat have had pent up inside of them for years. Man am I glad to be among those who get to enjoy it. For those who listen to Howard Stern, you'll get this reference - they are getting the poison out of their system! Ha ha.

Today, you hear new music and it usually sounds like a band or a performer trying to sound like something they think the listeners will like. They're aiming toward something out there. Trying to be liked. The music sounds like stuff you've heard already that was innovated by someone else. Or it sound like everything else that is popular, so that the band can cash in on whatever the current popular sound is. You can just hear it. The lack of authenticity.

When I listen to these tracks from TGF, I hear a group of 5 musicans that are pouring out the raw energy and creativity inside of them and are making the music that they want to create. They are not aiming for some external target. They are creating as artists and using what is within themselves - and between them with the synergy that comes from a good working band. And that really comes through loud and clear. And as a result, it is raw, innovative and fresh. It doesn't fit a mold. It sounds like music that should, and hopefully will, be eagerly consumed by music afficionados.

Agreed. It won't be music for everyone. The stuff so far is up there with my favourites.

Song definately has me interested in hearing the whole album. It's not Live at all, like discovering a new band. I just hope I don't have buyers remorse after listening to the whole thing.

QUOTE(Pokey @ May 5 2010, 7:48 pm) *

likewise, I might think Ed is a complete ass as a person, but I'm still hoping he can do something musically that'll be good. I admit I do like Zion, so I'm interested but not hopeful for the rest. I find Ed frustrating because I can see what he's capable of and he just doesn't go there.

Just quoting this for truth!

Agreed Fish. They stated they aren't worried if the masses will accept or like it. They are putting their souls out in the music. I know a good piece of music when I hear it. When you listen to these songs in headphones and hear the sheer power and emotion, you get the chills....that the best drug!!

I had that smile too when i listened to the song loud. It has a very catchy vibe and if it is promoted to the masses it may become a hit.

Played 'Honest Man' for a bud last night and she flipped - 'More!' ...and so Tredicim, Appetite and the Album teaser followed.

Now I know what a drug-pusher feels like.

And anyone who hasn't spun these tracks and not turned it up till the floor starts vibrating is missing out, I can tell you that much.

The drug pusher analogy is spot on and we've all made mention of it.

With A Riot in mind!!!

I'm not sure what to do about helping TGF get some airplay on SA radio. I've sent a few emails, but I doubt anyone is concerned - this could be down to the fact that most of the listenership are aware of the new Ed album and are not too familiar with the whole scenario and effort made by TGF music-wise.

I recently spoke with the major distributor here in SA and he had not heard of TGF at all, but when I mentioned LIVE, he was all 'Eddie will be out here for sure, end July'.

Eddie? WTF!? What's with all this Eddie shit?

Need some advice here; perhaps with some radio play, a push for an album release in SA will happen.

I've just been shooting off emails as well with links to TGF's myspace so the radio clowns can listen to what they're not playing. Still waiting for a few responses to come back, but in CPA we don't have a huge variety of rock stations and the one we do have, to put it politely, I am not a fan of.
