Live from 1999-2004, basically would pick a setlist for a tour and stick with it every night.

Starting in 2005 we got a bunch of new songs rotating in and out:

Off the top of my head I remember:
Mirror Song
Gas Ed Goes West
Iris
Walk The Line
Dam at Otter Creek
Top
Simple Creed
Rattlesnake
Hold Me Up

While not as varied as a few other bands, it was a marked improvement for Live.

....and I am positive it was due to Chad Chad & Pat requesting that these songs get played and not have a setlist full of SFBM material. the older material is by far and away the best materia.l. The new material didn't sell donkey dick and it was a slap in the face to the old skool fans.

I have no link to prove it. It's my opinion that they wanted to play them to keep them sane and keep the fans happy

First, Walk the Line had been played pretty consistently since the 2000 tour. Second, how many times were the other songs played? GHGW, TDAOC, Top, and Hold Me Up were all played less than 5 times in the last decade. Simple Creed probably, too, since the V tour, but that sucks anyway. That leaves Mirror Song, Iris and Rattlesnake as the only "obscure" songs to make the regular cut in the final 10 years of their touring. What variety.

They were just there briefly around 06/07 I think, and even then not at every show. Nick seems to think one new song being introduced every 3 years or so is a fantastic revelation that will keep the "hardcore fans" loyal.

Also I really do think that it must have been CT, CG and PD's call to push some of those songs coming in .. given what Ed has been writing recently and what he's been performing on his solo shows, I can't see Ed going "Ok guys, lets bring back Gas Hed!" ... although the fact he performed Supernatural solo probably means he may have suggested that? I'm all for that, top 10 Live song for me.

Totally, Ween is another .. saw them 3 nights in a row, they didn't play the same song more than twice and they played 30+ songs each night. Treat your fans with respect, especially if you play multiple nights in the same city.

I will add Dream Theater to that. Mike the drummer keeps all the set lists from all the shows they play on tour (even ones from previous tours) so that when they play in a certain city he makes up a different set list accordingly. I've seen em 5-6 times in Toronto in the last 8 years and it's always different songs. And if anyone knows their music, saying those songs are hard to play is a fucking understatement lol.

edit: Watch Ed start bringing back obscure Live tunes now to spite the other guys (and US! fuck I bet he reads this site, probably cause Nick somehow got in touch with him haha,) THAT'LL SHOW THEM they'd be saying. It's a fooking conspiracy I tells ya. alright I'm done too much beer in ma belly tonight.

oh and Porcupine Tree kicked fucking ass last night woo hooo

I couldn't even finish it. higher place... great beyond... grace everlasting love!!!

I can't believe you guys dissed dirty water lotus flower, that song is leagues ahead of all this stuff. I thought about it today and decided that I should buy both albums but I don't know if I want to support Ed by buying a cd I'd be embarrassed to listen to.

I'll be honest, I'm expecting it to get passed around and I'll end up with it without paying.

after wasting my money on V and BOP, I refused to buy SFBM. I downloaded it, listened to it twice and quickly deleted that pile of trash.

I was holding out hope that there might be more than one or 2 songs (see the SFMB thread) that sounded like Chad,Chad & Pat contributed. I literally said, this record sucks after first listen.
