It makes me sick to see him performing the classic Live tracks without the band. Go ahead, play the crap from V, BOP, and SFBM. Just stay away from everything on MJ, TC, SS, and TDTH.

But you're okay with TGF playing Live songs with Kevin Martin?

I didn't say that I was.

One could argue that 3 of the 4 is better compared to 1 of the 4 though.

I'm ok with both bands playing Live songs, so long as it doesn't dominate the setlists .. 2-3 songs max should do it. They split for a reason. I do like TGF's idea though of playing more obscure ones than the typical same old ones. Even CT said that Ed has got the right to play any Live songs he wishes, which is true ... doesn't mean he should though. Ed's band doesn't seem to have the balls to pull off the earlier Live work, so sticking to the latter stuff probably just suits them better. Who knows how Kevin will go with the Live vocals, but at least he'll be doing songs we're not used to hearing so it won't be such a shock.

But yeah, what I'd really hope for is both bands playing their new albums in full in concert. I really hope Ed doesn't just do 6-7 songs from his album and then everything else Live stuff ... that'll just hurt his credibility even more.

Ed playing live songs will bring people to the show. The general public go to concerts to hear songs that they know. He is also touring as Ed Kowalczyk of Live, so people will be expecting to hear the hits. The songs will sound differently a bit to hardcores because these guys haven't been playing Live songs for 10-15 years, but they are talented musicians and it will still sound good..

If TGF plays only obscure Live/Candlebox songs, it will fall flat with the majority of the audience. I'm sure they will pull off I Alone,Cover Me etc.

In concert Ed is 2 of 5 because Adam is with him. Also, the lead singer makes all the difference. Did anyone happen to catch Fuel after they got rid of Brett Scallions? Yikes!

Adam isn't part of Live. Adam wasn't there writing and recording MJ, TC, SS, and TDTH.

Yes, but he did play all the classic Live songs in concert for over 10 years.

Sean Hennessy joined Candlebox in 2006, was he still part of Candlebox even though he didn't write/record any of their hit songs?

People that think like you don't deserve music, if you only go to concerts to hear the songs you know then .. wow. Part of the fun of concerts to me is either being blown away by a song I previously didn't think was all that great, or that I didn't even know about at all. Music should be about broadening your horizons all the time, for both artist and fan. Something you clearly don't do, and Ed doesn't do either .. you guys really are a match made in Heaven.

TGF seem to be catered more towards music fans, and if they pull out a Heropsychodreamer or Stage or something then I think that'll be a lot more appreciated than if they tried The Dolphin's Cry or Lightning Crashes. lol to touring as "Ed Kowalczyk of Live" ... that's just sad. It's akin to "The Ed Kowalczyk 'I used to be famous, please come and see my show' tour".

Also about the sounding good, hasn't sounded good from anything I've seen thus far, you're easily pleased so long as Ed is on stage. Sounds like he could be backed by a drum machine and a wobble board and you'd think it's amazing.

He was a touring guitarist. That doesn't make him part of Live. Are you going to debate that Michael Railton was a member of Live as well?

Yes, the lead singer can make a huge difference, but also vice versa is true.
A lead singer is nothing without his band... most of the time when a former lead singer starts an own solo career it fails miserably.

Adam, while giving a good assist to the band, was not part of Live as we know it. Railton's playing drowned out the rest of the band at times, especially Pat.

That being said.......TGF will attract new fans and has the potential to break it wide f'in open. I will stand on this position.

OHHHHH.... I'd love to see that.... no honestly...I would..... lol.gif

I don't mind ex-frontmen singing their 'old bands' songs.... but like someone else said.. not in a 50 - 50 kinda setlist... more a 75 - 25 new to old or something....
