QUOTE(Pokey @ May 6 2010, 12:00 pm) *

I'll save him some time and write his response for him:

"All they're doing is acting like babies, if someone goes out of their way to add them on facebook and then take a shot at them, they should do what Ed does and just completely ignore him!! It reflects badly on the band!!"

Which would be ironic if he said that because everyone else that viewed it seems to think it's quite hilarious. I don't see anyone else jumping up and down having a go at them for mistreating a fan ... especially cos they guy isn't a fan. If he had said "Wow you guys rock!" and they gave him the same response, maybe then I could see!

Yeah, you said it perfectly. What he fails to see is that he's just about the only member on this entire board who thinks Ed's music compares. He's so delusional and obsessed that he still can't stop trying to convince himself otherwise.

I don't understand. If he is not a fan of their music...then why join their facebook fan page?
Just saying! lol.gif

Because he was a fan of Live, and wanted to check out what a band consisting of 3/4's on Live sounded like.

Answering a fan back is like a teacher answering a student back, just totally stupid. They shouldn't feel the need to stoop to the level of an anonymous facebook fan. It just makes them look insecure.

Like it makes you look insecure by doing the exact same thing? By feeling compelled to come in these threads to "constantly" answer back? You are doing EXACTLY the same thing!! Then calling them insecure!

I'm honestly appalled by your inability to recognize your own hypocrisy in your own criticisms. It seriously leads me to doubt your posession of even basic intelligence. Either that or you are so blinded with tunnel vision with your fanboy bullshit, you can't see anything else. Either way, you just need to be a man and let it go. Get the fuck out like EVERYBODY here is asking you to do.

You have no place here, and nobody wants to hear the spewing garbage that come out of your Ed loving mouth. Get out already.

Bet you Nick will think it's soooo unprofessional!!! What a fucking tool that guy is sometimes.

Yeah. I dont know why everything has to be so damn serious all the time. Seems like they've dealt with what happened with Live and moved on. Just seems like they are having a lot of fun for all the right reasons. Pretty hard to do in the music business but they seem to be doing this on their own terms and doing a nice job thus far. (Cue Pokey, I need a Nick response on that last line).

Someone criticized their music, and they felt the need to answer back with a childish reply.

I get criticized all the time on this message board, and I take it without a fuss.

I can't find the offending comments anymore on Facebook, were they erased?

Why should they not answer back? If someone had a go at Ed in a public forum would you begrudge him for having a go back? I certainly wouldn't even if I was agreeing with the heckler. Infact that's even what it could be likend to. If you're at a show and someone heckles the performer whether they be a musical performer or comedien or whatever, would you expect they say nothing?
It's TGF's page and they can say or do whatever they want ... You're probably more upset about it than Michael is.

Someone already attacked Ed on his Facebook page. His fans defended him, he didn't need to.

Getting heckeled at a show is different, on Facebook you delete and move on.

Thanks for writing the book on internet etiquette. haha I love the way you say his fans defended him, and somehow I guess if TGF had said nothing and the TGF fans defended them you would call them a pack of vultures.

I love how much these guys connect with their fans and non-fans. They "like" every comment on their page, with band members often responding from their own personal profiles if someone asks them a question directly. They are real, genuine people who clearly value what their fans think and try to respond as much as their busy schedules allow.

If you want to see the exact opposite, go to Eddie K's page and Twitter account.

The internet has allowed a great deal of connection to fans, and the artists who are willing to step into that arena deserve a lot of credit in my book. The rest offer $175 phone calls.

You can argue all day about whether or not it is professional to have fun with rude messages on a Facebook wall, but you can't argue with their dedication to the fans.

And one last thing, Nick, why would you delete the comment because it is negative? Do you really think that is the right decision?

This is absolutely true, I played "Honest Man" to my Dad tonight and I posted his comments to it and they responded in kind with CG giving the thumbs up. Now I'm not all giddy like a fanboy going "oh they acknowledged me!!" but it is kinda cool, just not only the concept in general but how they go about it. What Ed does he could have done back in the late 90s, just posting updates on what he's doing, it just doesn't seem like he's truely utilising the power something like Twitter of Facebook can give.
Some bands really go out of their way to connect with fans, a great one right now is Ween .. whenever they're touring somewhere Deaner is a massive fishing fan and is always asking if fans wanna hook up with him for a fishing trip in the afternoon before a show. Then he'll get the camera out and makes it into his own fishing show he puts on the website. Now I have no love of fishing, but that's pretty damn cool.

TGF obviously take the time to read everything fans have to say, and they'll respond to it, positive of negative ... they're real people with emotions. They're not the cardboard cut out music stars with scripted responses that Nick is used to following. I'm willing to bet Ed doesn't respond unless the picture of the person looks like they might be a hot female.
