QUOTE(Pokey @ May 2 2010, 10:44 am) *

I know it's now Nick's site and everything, but I would seriously wonder if when Zman gets his site up and running that this site could turn purely into an Ed forum and Zman's can be used as the TGF one as it seems Nick has no interest whatsoever in TGF. Again it's fine for him not to like the music, but his view of TGF is completely misguided and whilst new people to this forum may question why a lot of people posting here don't always have favourable things to say about the bands that this site is supposedly supporting. I think the more pressing question would be why the owner and moderator is putting time and effort into using this for a band that seemingly disgusts him?

Just because I don't enjoy TGF's music, doesn't mean that I begrudge others liking the band. However, I will always give my honest thoughts about what I think of the music regardless of what others think.

As for TGF rushing the single out, I was just responding to OuttoDry's comments.

Thoughts on the music are fair enough, but you're not just doing that. You seem to dislike the band, the people behind the music. I certainly wouldn't run a forum or website supporting people whom I didn't like.

It is nothing against the guys personally. All 3 members of Live gave me many years of entertainment. They are excellent performers and musicians. I saw Kevin Martin in concert once and he is a decent frontman.

I just disliked how members of TGF handled the break-up publicly. They tried to turn the fanbase on Ed, and in turn win over the Live fan base with pity. The only thing they actually accomplished was splitting a certain percentage of the fanbase between Ed and themselves.

On top of that, I find the new TGF music tedious to listen to.

I'll be an Honest Man here.

This song is ok. I guess in the end it really just makes me wish Live was doing this. It's unfortunate that the band couldn't come to some sort of agreement. Ed singing over this music would be fucking fantastic, provided the lyrics weren't lovey-dovey crap.

Also, I think Ed's new song is ok too. However, I wish he didn't have to mention faith or god in every damn song he does now. It's very off-putting to me. When he mentions love and faith or god in every song it just becomes fake, and less sincere. Truth is, Ed can still make good songs but I wish he could find something else to write about already. I would probably be able to stand more of Ed's music if every song wasn't guaranteed to be about faith, love and god.

Jim please move that to the TGF vs Ed thread. I'd like this thread to go back on topic of Honest Man

the guy gave his opinion on Honest Man, saying the song was okay. Just because it wasn't glowing, it was asked to be moved to another section of the board. Plus the fact that OutToDry isn't a moderator and really has no right to ask someone to move their post.

This one started as a song Ed sang over, you can look up "Believe" on youtube to see what he did with it.

Power trip much?

I don't think OTD was asking that because of the one sentence review of the song, he was asking it because the rest of the post was very much about Ed and TGF. Nevermind that both OTD and Jim have been members of the Live community for a long time, I doubt OTD would have asked otherwise. Then again, you weren't even around when Live Web was open were you? Hell, Jim moved the post over gladly and acknowledged that it was a good decision!

Nick, please give us a new moderator. Your negative attitude towards posters on here is really starting to show through. That is the beginning of the end for most internet forums, you don't want that do you?

I asked Jim to move his information on this TGF vs EK to the thread that is active. We were trying to talk about Honest Man song here and it did get derailed (some of my doing I admit). I didn't do it to be ballsy, simply to clean up our diahreaa

Yes, I am aware that this is "Believe 2.0". I should have been more clear. What I really meant was that I wish this was a Live song, from an upcoming Live album. The fact that is started out as a Live song makes me wish this even more, it's not like I wish every TGF song was a Live song. And if this was a Live song, and if it was also going to be on a Live album I would have very high hopes for that album (if this was a new Live single I would go buy that album the day it came out...which is something I haven't done for a Live album since TDTH). This is all just wishful thinking, of course.

I'm trying to be objective, in the face of a song that's in a style I don't generally go for. I really don't think the riff is all that good...
