Nickelback should have stopped at the first album. They're songs are the same thing over and over, kind of what Live did since 2003

Or what TGF did on this album. If you listen to the samples they all meld together with the exception of the last song, which actually sounds like it could be pretty good.

I don't think they all sound the same. They are def differences in the samples. The last song is a slower ballad which I do like too. The purpose of this record was to reconnect with the heart & soul of rock & roll and allow some folks a chance to express something that was not expressed in quite sometime. The samples range from 70's 80's & 90's to me. That being said, I like the song Grace, the sound of it has a bit of Secret Sahmadi flavor to it. The song, is overproduced in refrain bridge, the loudness of has a mashed together feel and Ed's higher notes tail off a bit. Anyway those a fan of his later works are fine.

Why would they stop? Zillions of people must like them, since they keep on getting hits and selling out shows.

Just my opinion. Every band is entitled to thier day in the sun.

And by the way, the estimated human population of the world is only.......6,818,300,000

I fail to see where you get zillions..........even though I know it's an expression.

You won't know what this means, but, every song on the sample has a different tempo, several of the songs are in different keys, and there are a couple that operate in an entirely different time signature.

Simply put, from an objective musical standpoint, you are wrong. They may all sound the same to you, but on a very technical level they are all distinct in many ways.

I'm not a musician and I don't have a technical ear. As a general music fan, all the songs on the sample sounded very similar.

Do you think Grace, Everlasting Love, Drive, and Zion sound distinct?

Oh, come on Nick. If Live wouldve released a disk like TC or SS with the whole cd being the same feel to it, you;d love it & u know it.

Somehow I doubt it, now if it were another SFBM or BoP he'd be all about it.

I enjoyed every album that Live released. The Gracious Few sound nothing like TC or SS. The horrible classic rock sound with Martin's vocals kill any distinction the album could have had. TC and SS both have a distinct sound, but the majority of the songs have their own feel and vibe.

If Live released a CD that sounded like Honest Man or the samples, I would be really upset by it. Thankfully it isn't the case. As a fan of Live's total sound, Ed's CD is far more to my liking.

The whole reasoning for each camp to explore their separate projects was of want on one end and need. I'll let everyone here figure out who is who. lol.gif

Fixed that for you! Ed's new material sounds nothing like Live's early recordings.

Haven't had the opportunity to keenly listen to all the offerings from TGF, but it is a departure from LIVE in many ways and that is perfectly okay. I'm looking forward to seeing them on tour and I'm sure I'll catch an EK show as well. Call me crazy, but it may be possible to enjoy both, who knows? All I know is that nothing can capture the old feelings of I received from seeing LIVE during the earlier days. Can't live in the past people, lets all move on and give each party a fair chance and if you don't like it stop bitching and move on, pretty simple really. See ya I'm going to go give Pillar of Davidson another listen, for the first time in a long time.

I've had it my car(s) since 1994. Only took it out to switch to the newer car. Favorite alltime album over some real classics.
