Just wanted to get a general idea of who has signed up to Ed's fan club?

Just so you know, your paid membership extends the date of the initial free membership.
i.e. If your free membership expires in December 2010, if you sign up for a paid membership then the date will be extended to December 2011 (at least it did in my case)

That seems to be a bit of a rip off - I think it should be a whole year.

Oh, I'm on a freebie. Really doubt I'll pay for the extra...could change my mind...nothing in the paid membership is enticing me right now.

There's no rip-off. You do get a whole year. smile.gif

In my case, when Ed launched his site in December 2009 I signed up to the free membership. So that gave me access until December 2010.

Then a couple of months ago, Ed then introduced 'paid' subscriptions. I paid for a membership in March 2010. I assumed that that would mean my membership would be run out in March 2011, instead it runs out in December 2011.

Despite posting comments in previous months knocking Ed and his fanclub I did actually sign up for the free membership. I know - I'm a shallow, shallow man. Havent downloaded my free mp3's yet though, or indeed done anything else with it.
Anyone gonna admit to the $75 membership? For a few quid more they could have got a phone-call! yay.gif

That'll be Nick unless someone votes for the top level membership ... then that'd be Nick.

I didn't. However, I do know two who did sign up for the $50 membership. They wanted a chance for the meet & greet pass, which they received badges for an aftershow meet & greet. Unfortunately, they never actually got to meet Ed. It was a large event due to a radio station sponsoring the event and there were people at the meet & greet from the radio, too. They had been told to sit at their table until Ed got to their area. Somehow Ed missed their table and left the area before they could meet him. So, in a sense, they paid $50 each to see Ed closeup, but never got their cd signed or a handshake or anything. Maybe if they had a "hot chick" at the table? happy.gif

I admit, from what they said, it was very poorly organized by the radio station and the venue. However, I would recommend to anyone who does sign up thinking they will get the meet and greet pass, be aggressive (politely) in making sure that you get your chance to meet Ed. If he misses your area, see if you can find a way to get to where he is, or you'll miss out. Keep in mind security and being respectful of Ed, but don't end up like these two. They had been really hyped about meeting Ed and were very disappointed at how things turned out.

On a good note, however, they did meet Adam. He came into the meet & greet area and stopped at a few fan tables. He made it to their table and he spent about ten minutes talking with these two guys. They said he was very nice. Talked with them about his solo project, his touring with Live and with Ed. He even talked to one of the guys about his music career as he is a drummer and songwriter. He autographed both of their cd's. They said he was very down-to-earth and they really enjoyed spending time with him.

So, in other words, if you pay Ed a very high price and expect him to do what he promised in return for it, be as pushy as you possibly can and maybe you'll force it to happen? Wow, who would have thought he's dishonest, I mean he only stole millions from his friends since kindergarten.

Hey, if you read my post, you'll see I never said anything about Ed deceiving the guys or not keeping his promise. For all I know, he might have thought he went by their table. Like I said, it was a big event with a lot of people at a lot of tables.

Probably most of those meet and greet passes through memberships will be at smaller events and there won't be any problem.

However, I was just trying to say that if you do get involved in one of the larger events like these guys did, make sure you don't get passed by, as sometimes can happen at a poorly-organized event. Not organized by Ed's team, by the way. I believe the radio station organized it.

That is one thing I really like about how TGF is handling their fan base. It might change if they get more well-known and have a larger fan base at each show, but hopefully not.

I think it is really cool when performers take the time to get down and mingle with their fans instead of the formal meet and greets, etc. The two I mentioned that missed out at their meet and greet told me stories of some other shows they had been to where those in the show came down and spent time with them.

Good for TGF in trying to connect with their fans!

Every show I've attended Ed solo, he has come out to meet the fans afterwards as well. I'm sorry what happened to you in Chicago though.

You didn't organize it - or did you?

I have the free membership. I don't really see any real benefit to having it (everything I was able to get from it was later on the album itself). I don't plan on paying to extend it when my membership expires.

as far as I know Ed didn't come out to meet people after the Chameleon or the Altar Bar. I did wait at both venues...unless I didn't wait long enough, I don't think he came out. I've met Ed before & he's always been courteous & generous w his time & signed stuff for me (& I'm not a hot chick) but I was hoping he would come out after the Chameleon.

I am not a member of Ed's club, and I wouldn't even spend your money to join it.
