Hence sounding generic. We've heard these sounds a million times before. It doesn't really matter whether it's been a while, you can go on iTunes and download a million songs just like how these sound SO FAR.

If you are going to make your definition of generic that broad, then everything made in the last 30 years is generic. The term becomes completely useless. Clearly we define it in different ways.

I've been a huge fan of Candlebox and Live for years, but if this album is shit then I will readily admit it. Based on the clips, it is different than most of the rock music being put out at this time, and I embrace that readily.

I'm still waiting for my 30min epic prog-tech-jazz-fusion-meddle-diddle from the boys. Now that would be awesome. Can Gracey drum in 11.34/67th sigs?

Don't hold your breath, just listen to some of the Mars Volta instead! Although, they are generic, at least according to LiveFan92's definition. smile.gif

Haha, could never get into TMV, I'll stick to my Cynic and Meshuggah for crazy odd times. But that's cause I just love my metal, specially my prog tech metal hahaha.

Any generic rock n roll from past years is 100,000x better than the sheer cowpies we've been getting for the past 15 years. I don't think anyone can dispute this fact.

Indeed, but I'll take this generic rock over da Ek's generic American Idol pop-rock.

And I never said generic rock is BAD... I also don't think Ed's attempt to be Daughtry is really a bad thing, either. There's a market for that, there are people who really dig it, so if they like his Daughtry-esque album, good for them. No one is forcing anyone to buy or like the album.

There are too many shitty things in life to get so worked up about whether Ed has sold out or TGF is going to truly rock the world or just put out a solid rock album that doesn't change the genre but shows their passion for what inspired them.

I just think the Ed bashing from the fans of TGF is a little dumb, I guess, and it makes me not want to like the band as much as I'd like to like them. They come off as childish in some of their web postings as it is... Like the kids in high school I HATED... So to see some of their fans (and note I said SOME) acting childish just makes me wonder about them...

Not saying I mean you, Sonic Tonic, or anyone in particular... I'm just feeling a lot of negativity from the "true believers" in the TGF and it's not helping me get into their music...

But like I said, I'm hoping the album rocks me like nothing has in a decade, and I can just love the music and not care about what the band is saying online or what their fans are doing...

No, not generic at all! They actually sound like someone threw some cats and industrial supplies into a blender... which I assume is the sound they wanted, so they did a great job achieving it. Just not my cup of tea.

I define it this way: if you play the clips for someone who hasn't already decided they love TGF more than life itself, they'll say, "Yep, that was a rock album... from sometime in the last 30 years..." And carry on with their lives, never caring if they hear the rest. It's just nothing new. And like I said, there's nothing bad about that. Doing something that's been done a million times before is a good way to show your roots and inspirations.

I don't know, I'm rather fond of Secret Samadhi (13 years ago) and The Distance to Here (11 years ago)... but I know there are some people who always just wanted Throwing Copper 2 and never let that idea go...!

Please stop. Way to play on my words. You know the trash music that the public has been forced to digest. SS was grand in my sound scheme, TDTH was lesser in my opinion, not superb but A-.

Let's have it out.....Yes I am the Ed basher. I make no bones. He's deprived that rock band of much sanity and good rock n roll. He's deprived the real longtime fans the soul and swagger of Live only to push his own sell out agenda. The boys saved face to keep it together only to be given the skiff in the ribs.

I've been waiting for them to do it on their own for a long while now!!! I am happy they are doing what they are doing now, and glad Gracey & Pat D persuaded Chad T not to give up on what's been his dream and to overcome what's keeping him down. When I heard they were going to do a project sans Ed, I said Hallelujah!!!!

Have your AC Hot 40 whatever and GOD, WATER, FAITH, GRACE.....whatever!!! Enjoy it.

I do beg you to at least listen to the TGF record when it comes to us. You may even like it.

There is a difference from TC and a potential TC2 and the diaperpail release called SFBM. I dare you to come up with a good reason for the digression away from what they became famous for.

To get this back on the TGF Sampler track, I got a bug up my butt today and stripped out the first Honest Man sample and replaced it with the "fuller" one on MySpace. Check it out if you want to, or don't...

Gotta agree with this. Not gonna bash Ed too much but when da EK showed himself in that one rap video (oh and there is good rap and hip hop out there so I'm not bashing it, but that was NOT good rap) I kinda said fuck it, he's gone.

the problem with da EK is that he just asks for it. It's so easy to take pot shots because he just makes it so easy.

I don't really like this new clip though I gotta say. This was the song I was most excited about hearing, the old Believe V2.0, I really dug the riff. But this one seems to have tweaked the riff and it just doesnt sound as cool anymore. Hopefully it's just a part of the song and a variant of the original riff we heard which makes up the bigger part of the song.
