Wow, I've been a big Ed defender but this is really hard to justify. This is the strongest indication to me that he has completely lost whatever the old Ed had that drew us to him. The lol's, pushing his coffee is bad but charging someone $175 for a brief phone call is madness.

I didn't want to believe that Ed was entirely responsible for the breakup (and we still don't know the whole story) but if you take everything into consideration.....all signs point to Ed's ego being the culprit.

Live's music since TDTH has been 90% putrid. Listen to TGF and try to imagine pre-falsetto water happy happy joy joy Ed singing over the music. That is A LOT closer to the album we've all been waiting for since SS/TDTH era.

All the songs we've heard from Ed so far are just more of the same thing we've been getting. I actually liked Zion a lot more when it was just him on acoustic. It sounds lame now. Grace is nothing special. Everlasting Love is bad in my opinion. It was hard to tell from the bad youtube video but Drive wasn't any good either. Like everyone has been saying, Ed is now going to have that American Idol/overproduced sound.

I can confidently say that the Ed from the early 90's would not like the Ed of 2010 at all.

Speak for yourself. TGF has nothing to do with LIVE except for the lineup. Ed's solo music would def. be sounding much more like LIVE than TGF.

The TGF samples that I listened to sound NOTHING like classic Live from the 1990's.

Vocally? No. Musically? Yes. Chad's riff-writing and Gracey's drumming are back in a big way judging by the TGF samples. The songs are written in different keys than any of the old Live material, so the similarities aren't as apparent.

To say that it is a return to old Live doesn't mean it is the same, it means it is actually based around the input of CT, CG, and PD.

Good grief, $175 for a "brief" phone call. I've been ambivalent about Ed schlocking his wares, but this is a bit much. I know everybody needs to make money, but come on.

You guys know who around here would actually pay for this phone call right? I'll give you a hint; he always defends Ed and says everything he does and releases is spectacu-fabulous!

Also that the phone call would be good for marketing, it's an affordable price that even non hardcore Live/Ed fans can afford and feel closer to Ed which will help sales!

Hahaha.. dude.. the funny part is Ed and "Live" had been alienating casual fans for a very long time with their last few releases. And now Ed is completely alienating the hardcore fans with these type of ridiculous money making schemes.

Can you honestly defend this one Nick?

It depends on how you define hardcore fan. If the hardcore fans are the middle aged women who love the later Live material than hell yeah they will go willy nilly for this shit.

I think middle aged women are the only fans Ed has left.

It's funny how the whole "middle aged women fan" phrase has caught on around here. I take credit for coming up with it about 6 years ago when Ed lost his balls and started writing sissy music that only mothers would actually enjoy.

Haha it's so true, but I always add "and Nick" after middle aged women.

Maybe Nick is really a Nicole and is a middle aged women afterall?

I mean what man would actually become a Live fan AFTER the TDTH era? Apparently BoP and SFBM are Nick's favorite albums..

Hey - I resent that! I'm a middle aged woman and I can't abide the money grabbing fuckwit. I honestly thought someone had hacked the page for a laugh, but sadly it looks like it's all true.

I came for the music some years ago. Now I stop for the bile and vitriol. lol.gif
