Ed Kowalczyk
Sequencing my album (song order) today; i think it was harder than writing some of the songs! some people say the album is dead, but I still think of albums like a did as a kid..take me people on a trip thru approx. 12 songs..peaks, valleys, segues, climaxes.

I agree with that, album sequencing is totally important still. It's a shame some of the last few albums started with songs that they probably shouldn't have. BOP should have started with Like I Do, TDTH should have started with WFG, SFBM should have started with Night of Nights .... actually I recall Ed saying once he wanted it to start with Night of Nights too.

It's interesting since we've heard 4 songs and they are all mid-tempo rockers. Surely that can't take too long. lol.gif

The ordering of tracks are the least of the problems on BOP and SFBM.

I'm really curious to find out which songs that appear on Ed's upcoming album, were intentionally meant for Live's new (never released) album??

Because I read an extensive interview with Ed (held right after NotP), translated to Dutch in the last Fanclub Dutch Magazine, which was interesting to read. He's talking about in which studio he wants to record Live's new album (he wanted Santa Barbara, but he says he must talk bout it with the other guys), that he has written a whole bunch of new songs already (!), half of them Forever-ish, half of them Purifier-ish. also interesting, is how Ed explains how amazing it is how their songs get created. He writes them on acoustic guitar, but after that the other guys put sooo much input in them, for example CG coming with a great idea, etc. He was especially talking about Forever, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, I guess you all read the original interview in English a while ago on this site

Yeah, if your tour setlist will start with the song, I think it must be a good song to launch the album with, too!

Very good read on that article. Its kind of gives us a view of what the future may of held for LIVE if they did not break up. I am confused by one thing though. The article read in one place that Forever and Purifier was going to be on the upcoming album. Did they mean the Paradiso album or were they to be included in the new album as well? Hmmm... I also wonder what songs that will appear on Ed's album were meant for the upcoming LIVE album? Im sure Everlasting Love was one that was already written just by Chad Gracey's comments earlier. Maybe an early unmixed recording of Believe will pop up one day from LIVE. That would be a good gem!

No, if I remember correctly, Ed stated that they recorded Forever and Purifier to give the fans some new songs in between, so that we didnt have to wait for a full new album to hear new songs. And I think I readsomewhere they were especially for 'LATP', but Ed used the songs the show which direction they were taking.

How do you mean, didnt he call it really "Ed's new song". I doubt he would bash the song the way he did, as it was supposed to be his song at a certain moment.

By that, I'm quite sure 'Zion' was going to be a new Live song, which Ed tried out at some of his solo shows early 2009. he told someone backstage he couldnt wait to 'add the band in the song', while there wasn't any talking about his new band or a break-up at all. So he must have meant LIVE. I think Grace would actually fit LIVE very well, with some awesome Chad Taylor guitar riffs in it. Although I like the song now as well.

Yes Im sure you're right about Zion. That does make sense. It still sounds like a LIVE song to me even with a different band. Personally, I still think Zion and Grace sound like LIVE. Drive is a bit different although the poor quality recording we have reminds me a little of the sounds of Show from SFBM. We also know we would have had Believe too since they actually played it. I still wish we could locate a setlist from Ed's show last week. There were some other new songs played that we do not know of still. Im excited for the album though, seems it is going to be way better than SFBM. I wouldnt be surprised if there is a duet on there somewhere as well with a known singer! thumbsup.gif

Yeah, maybe we'll find out more about the new songs after the april 10th show. And if not, I'm quite sure we will after May 5th (Holland). The Dutchies over here always record like mad people thumbsup.gif

yeah maybe Daughtry (although that would be - considering the popularisty of D. - very hard to keep a secret), and Ed stated not too long ago he would like to record a duet with Sinnead O'connor.

If I recall correctly, he really did record a song with her. Hope it would be as nice as those of hers recorded with Ian Brown
