You know what's interesting about this entire message board? I was directed here by a fan of Ed's whom I found on YouTube while looking for a specific video. Yet, I came here, and all I see is moaning and bitching about Ed and his new career, and people sniping at each other over...other people's...opinions. Doesn't sound like a "fans of Live" forum to me. Sounds like "Bored and got nothing better to do" forum. I came here hoping to connect with other people with similar thoughts about the band, not post comments that are better suited to the schoolyard. What a waste of time.

Moaning and bitching? We are all such huge fans of the erstwhile Live, we are just following the lead of both Chads in recent months.

By the way, you are moaning and bitching about us moaning and bitching. Which tickles me at least. lol.gif

In actualtiy you are correct-nobody is making me stay. Since I jsut got here a day ago, I didnt think I was coming or going-just checking it out. What my point was was this: I was directed here by someone who very clearly stated they were a huge fan of Ed, and I come here and find that most of the posts are derogatory. I imagine that by posting I thought someone might contradict me and say "Hey, we're just yakking, we love Ed too." Since that didnt happen, I suppose I'll stay on Ed's message board, and leave the drama to those who need it.

"What does it say when someone could write better lyrics twenty years ago than they can now?"

who says they're better? his lyrics today are just as meaningful. only in the opposite direction. back during the MJ, TC and SS days he was being honest and questioning everything. but, now he's being honest in that he's found the answers to his questions... i would think if you like and respect ed.. you'd be happy for him. but, maybe you don't care about him and only yourself and what satisfies you.

That is exactly why I listen to artists that I choose, because their music satisfies me. What possible method is there to select the music you listen to, the books you read, the movies you watch and so forth?

I don't choose to listen to Ed or Live out of some arbitrary desire to support them. I choose to do it because they provide something for ME, that "satisfies me".

QUOTE(gotigrz @ Mar 15 2010, 1:16 pm) *

uh, no, it's just me and my obvious observations.

personally, i liked his music back during the TC and SS days, too... but, i'm more happy with ed finding Jesus Christ than worried about me having something good to listen to.

and, if there's anything that's sad about all this,... it isn't his lyrics to grace compared to sesquahanna... it's the obsession some of you have with music. music is meant to be enjoyed... not to live your life around... unless it's YOUR music.

i mean every time i come here there's another thread about "what would your all time LIVE cd have on it" or "rank the LIVE albums" ... c'mon people, there's more to life than LIVE.

ed, patrick, chad and chad have realized this.... why don't you?

What, are you high? Do Jesus freaks toke up these days?

You keep saying Ed found "Jesus". Why? I saw Ed less than a year ago, and he was cursing, clearly stoned out of his head and was getting cozy with this attractive groupie chick. That doesn't sound all Jesus-a-fied to me.

I do agree that Ed has seemed to find comfort and a level of content in his spiritual adventures, which contrasts to his younger years, but I see no reason to believe it's Jebus or Christianity that is his dedicated chosen path. If he says the word "Lord", a brainwashed Fundamentalist such as yourself interprets that as the Christian God, the rest of society, on the other hand interprets that as a spiritual influence or God.

"I see no reason to believe it's Jesus or Christianity that is his dedicated chosen path.... "

well, ed was quoted to say... "My heart and my soul have been saved; redeemed, rebooted and restarted by the Lord Jesus Christ. His Resurrection is my Salvation and my Strength forever!"

do you see any reason, now? i think it's pretty obvious where ed's heart is these days. i just think it's a shame that so many people have a problem with it.

you liked him when he was confused and angry, but not so much now that he's happy and found what he's been looking for. and, from what i can tell, most of you wish he was still confused so he'd make music pleasing to your ears. that is so sad. you have no idea how that makes you look. it's pitiful.

Where was this quoted? Surely it's on video, cause like I said, he's still smoking pot and entertaining the groupies, so I question just how "Christian" he is.

One of our draws to Live was the content, for most of us, we are like-minded and Ed was motivated similarly, so yeah, if he were to shift directions and denounce all of his eastern spiritual influence and take up Christianity exclusively, most of us would not like such in his music.

From his website (book section), it appears that he still digs eastern spirituality, which does not follow your Christian god. It may be possible that he is taking an "All religions have some truth to them" road that many spiritual adventurers inevitably stumble upon.

I liked his music when he was angry. I wouldn't call it confused. If he is an exclusive Christian, like you claim without a link to proof, then I would call that confused.

Since we are assuming that everything Ed says is true, I'm going to assume that everything Chad T. said about the band break up is true.

Thus, Ed is a born again Christian who signed a secret publishing contract behind his bandmate's backs and requested a $100,000 lead singer bonus for ONE SHOW.

Clearly Ed is not a conservative, exclusive Christian (if he would call himself a Christian at all). Fortunately, not all Christians are exclusive.

If this is in response to one of my posts, then I'm afraid it was greatly misunderstood.

oh dont be afraid, it was in response to PurdueSteve. Someone i think badman or merica actually asked ed in person and he admitted being a christian. im pretty sure his is a little more of an open faith (i remember a recent interview where he stated that praying doesnt do much good in the world) I know he thinks the bible is the best source of morality and guide for mankind but im not clear if he believes in the divinity of jesus or that he was born of a virgin etc...

my christianity is more in line with christopher hitchens.

I wouldn't worry too much about the ed bashers here I think that a group of people seem 2 blame ed 4 the split and also know who will really succeed post the split and are trying to even up the ledger a bit. Ed writes lyrics he believes in & knows what it takes 2 succeed and he's doing it. TGF have some good riffs but that appears 2b where it ends at the moment. Perhaps this fuels their anger and they voice it on here. Either way forums mean nothing really there are heaps of live/ed/thf fans out there this forum is only a tiny selection of them. Whilst I look forward to having twice the music as before the split, I look 4ward 2 ed's album more because he has a message in his work and his music has meaning to me. Don't b turned away from the forum bc of some idiots but at the same time I wouldn't exactly take much of it seriously!
