It is simple, if someone's tastes lean to tame, mid-tempo pop/rock then they will love Ed's new album. This is the Daughtry/Nickelback/David Cooke market and Ed is clearly aiming for it.

BINGO - and this is why i dont care for it..

i crave 90's style alternative rock.. Alice in Chains, Rage against the Machine, Beck, Incubus, The Nightwatchman -- with an edge- be it lyrically and/or musically -- the better - its why i fell in love w/Secret Samahi

but Ed's new song - unoriginal pop rock - bleh -- can i learn to like it shrug.gif - love it? no.gif

Interestingly, I loved Live in the 90s (grew up in York) but never got into the above bands. All of their stuff was just kind of "blah" and the same to me. None of those other bands, in my opinion, have ever done anything as great as TC or SS. But you probably feel differently. Just goes to show that different people must like different things about Live, eh?

Okay, I might be in the minority but I've hated everything Ed has done solo so far. However, this song is far better than anything I've seen out of him in a long time.

Also, let's consider he's always chosen the least rocking song as a single. Look at the last four...Heaven, Run Away, The River, Mystery.... none of them are particularly enjoyable or "rocking." So at least this is a little edgy and has some balls to it. No falsetto, either.

No falsetto is an absolute blessing, I at least can't fault him on that decision

Senghe is done with all new Ed/TGF projects..........what a pitty!! lol.gif

You're not getting rid of me that easily. I'm staying around to beeatch like a Chad Gracey. And possibly a bit of satirical photoshopping. I suppose the right answer is just in case there's something on either album that blows me away, but fuck that for now, I'm not in the mood for benefit of the doubt today.

I must admit I loved Alice In Chains every bit as much as I loved Live at around the same time, but I got different things from listening to each band. Same with Nine Inch Nails, though I do like Live's last 3 albums a lot more than NIN's last 3. And Manic Street Preachers. All extremely different bands that I adored at the same time period of the mid 90s. The only common thread to all bands was the passion and honesty they threw into their music.

I think we're all different and it's a good job really. Otherwise we'd all be listening to Beyonce and Britney fucking Spears with beatific grins on our lobotomised faces.

yeah, I forgot the falsetto, and how it was such a big point of critique by everyone. THAT's what you call progress. Zion had no or not much falsetto either.

Maaan, I know I've posted a lot already, but I really do like this. For me, it's the best thing to come out of TGF or Ed thus far. My favourite post-Live track to date. smile.gif

It's hard to bleed a man
Hard to bleed a man
When you know where he's falling to
Hard to bleed a wall
Hard to bleed a wall
When the bricks and the sand are you

And although we were very thirsty
I question the oasis
And although we were very lonely
I question the woman's love
Question the Gods above

Hard to bake the bread
Hard to bake the bread
When you're standing outside of the kitchen
Hard to join the dance
Hard to join the dance
When you know the song is poisoning everyone
When you know the song is poisoning everyone

When you know where he's falling
Question...
Yeah, you know where he's falling
Question...
The woman's love, the Gods above.

Now that just made me sad. What does it say when someone could write better lyrics twenty years ago than they can now?
