Everybody says this sounds like Daughtry. There was a song that was credited solely to Ed in 2008 and I thought he did a version with Daughtry. The song was called Fly. Could this song be Fly? I hope this doesn't get lost in this crazy thread because I think I am onto something.

Pretty sure that was something they wrote together for Daughtry's second album? But it didn't make the cut or something.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Mar 12 2010, 7:05 am) *

He is actually one of the most talented performers out there, especially when he commands the stage during a solo gig.

He actually isn't ... you honestly have no idea of the level of performers out there.. Ed can still be great on his day, but there are people out there with bucket loads more talent, creativity, charisma (people that dont tell the same stories and say the same things to the crowd night after night). This isn't an outright diss at Ed, or being an Ed hater, but thats a pretty outrageous statement. You might enjoy his performances, but there are people out there that have more talent in their little finger than Ed.

Truth. I think it all depends on how many concerts one has actually seen, especially ones with the solo acoustic vibe.

I'm seeing this guy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX--sM5G52U , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2p52JNcbDc next month .. seen him on about 4 tours now, absolutely amazing talent, one of the best with guitar I've seen. Puts on a great live solo acoustic show telling stories and really interacts with the crowd. For any Aussie's here I highly reccomend checking out when he's in your city in April!

I listend to 'Grace' again today ... if it were on SFBM it would have been one of my favorite tracks on that (which isnt saying much). But god damnit, I just wanted something *different*

Someone in this thread really hit the nail on the head with how different and evolving Live was early on. MJ had this laid back almost acoustic sound to it, very easy going. TC then brought that early 90s rock sound, SS took a darker tone and went to a more raw rough edged sound, TDTH was as Ed explained "an explosion of light", V was extremely experimental with rap elements, BOP went for a more radio friendly pop-rock sound

But then we got SFBM, and it seems this is where it's stopped with Ed. Everything right up to BOP I think was something different from the last. Hopefully the rest of the album has a couple more hidden gems at least like Zion.

the songs bexcen in my head all day whach doesnt mean i think its sgreat but i guess its a decent safe song. what i w will say in its favour is that its defin ately has something "live" about it, which is the passionate tone of the lyri c. the subject matter pisses me off as does the stradightforward construction and production of the song but it definately a song buy the guy who sang in live. i giave it props for that. i really hope this does well for ed maybe out of selfish desire to please my daughtry tripple m loving frineds. how gay is that. im pissed.

btw who was wrong?

Is this song directed towards Pat and the two Chads? "You were wrong, there was Grace". Sounds like his twitter post where he said, "it was all completely untrue".

"You saw the enemy, I saw your face". In other words, throughout the last few years, there was grace from Ed's perspective. It's also a diss at the name 'The Gracious Few'.

"You were wrong, but I still have faith". Ed's taking the higher road, and he still has faith, which could mean a number of things including faith in them.. maybe one day they'll get back together.

My favorite lyrics: "People like you and I, spinning through space".

Im dont get why people are not liking this song! This has hit potential written all over it if it gets promoted. Definately another success along the likes of a Heaven song. In fact, reminds me off something from BOP album. I like it and it is a radio friendly song. So far Ive heard Zion and Grace and am digging the vibe off Ed s album. Even Everlasting Love isnt horrible and not a bad album filler. We will still have to see what the rest of the album has on it but it is a shame that there in not a new LIVE album coming out with Believe, Zion, and Grace on it. I thnk we would all be pretty excited to this point about what we are hearing,

Hmm, well interesting points! Although I can't believe he would make a song to diss them (as he avoids talking about anything LIVE in interviews last months), it still can be seen it that light.

Did I already said I really like this song, also after 10 listens? No, maybe not original, not good produced, maybe not real rock. I don't care, this is Ed, and I'm diggin his songs.

haha, yeah exactly! lol.gif

There's no way Ed wrote the song about Haiitie, cause he finished recording his album late 2009, didnt he?
(aside from producing, mixing, etc etc)

Yes, perfect example of Ed changing his story to make is sound relevant and inspiring.

Good points, although I could never describe "Pain Lies on the Riverside", "Waterboy", even "Operation Spirit" as laid back. The band themselves used to talk about how frantic some of the songs were.
