I'll also say that I'm not sure Ed is a Christian now. I think he embraces a lot more things about Christianity but I'm not sure he would call himself a Christian.

Please, not this again. There were at least 3 threads dedicated to this last May.

If this song was released under the name LIVE, I would probably go like: "nooooooo, I don't want 'my' band associated with that!"
Now I know it's just Ed solo, it doesnt need to be decent rock for me.

So... I really like this song. I'm really looking forward to hearing the full album.

Not bad. Stands a good shot at getting some radio spins provided it gets the right marketing push.

The lyrics just don't really do it for me, and it was the lyrics that really drove me to Live in the first place. There's nothing musically unique in the sound, but it has the right dynamic movement to stick in people's minds, though the bridge is a bit lost in the LOUD that Ed seemed to be going for. I can hear the Nickelback comparisons, but it's suitably different enough to not get completely lost in the shuffle. It should play well in concert.

yeah, but I think even Nickelback songs are more 'rock' than this song. Not that it's bad, but I agree with you it somehow will be different enough for radio.

I also agree with the fact that there's nothing musically unique in the sound. The only reason this song is quite good is Ed's voice. And I think that's where he for goes: songs that are all about a singer (him), not about a complex rock song. That's in fact what we sensed last few years with Live, it became a backing band for him.

All he has got left is his (great) voice, and he uses it damn well in this song and in Zion.

It's impossible to hear this and not think, this is the guy that did Lakini's Juice? Or this is the guy that did White Discussion?

come on, everyone who wanted old Live back screams exactly this since uhm, BoP or SFBM, more than 5 years ago! Did you suddenly expect anything different now, especially after he has all freedom of the word now he's gone solo?

I heard that, but.......remember the Overcome scenario

haha, yeah exactly! lol.gif

There's no way Ed wrote the song about Haiitie, cause he finished recording his album late 2009, didnt he?
(aside from producing, mixing, etc etc)

Grace Lyrics

My wings are feeling clipped now
And all I wanna do is fly

Everybody says this sounds like Daughtry. There was a song that was credited solely to Ed in 2008 and I thought he did a version with Daughtry. The song was called Fly. Could this song be Fly? I hope this doesn't get lost in this crazy thread because I think I am onto something.

Umm... No. Still doesn't make my reaction any different. This is even further away from the old Ed than SFBM Hey, now that I think about it, if he keeps this up he may eventually end up where he started. So maybe there is hope.
