To each his own. I feel that Grace sounds way more current than anything The Gracious Few had on their sample. I also was wrong earlier, this song could fit nicely on Hot A/C radio, Triple A, Rock and Christian radio IMHO.

The mere fact that TGF doesn't sound current makes it all the more viable. God forbid someone create something that doesn't sound like everything else on the radio.

you just proved my point above and shows what you really give a shit about. It's not music and passion for it, that's for sure. It's all about sales and how popular shit gets. It's always been that way with you and how many times I or others or many before us try to explain that to you, you still only care about how popular something is or could get. Pop in your Katy Perry and Daughtry cd's and enjoy your Starbucks latte while watching American Idol.

I feel sorry for you as a music lover. You truly are missing out on some amazing music out there.

You're right, but I never denied being a fan of popular mainstream radio. I think a lot of what's on the radio now is crap, but there also is a lot of good. I put the new Ed song on the good side of popular radio.

That said, I find most of Daughtry's music repetitive and think he has no stage presense, but I really dig Katy Perry.

I listened to Grace. I hate to say this but it's really not bad. I like the chorus most of all.

Sounds just like Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, etc. etc.

It's a shame Ed has figured out how to sing again only to go the overproduced, commercialized, pop/rock route.

Oh and this song is "oozing with the love of Jesus" as gotigrz would say. lol.gif

I'm going to say though that Ed's record could do really well if it is promoted. It will do better than TGF in sales as it is clearly being aimed at gaining mass appeal.

Oh and Nick, we actually agree on something. Namely that Katy Perry's songs are really really catchy. I'm not saying I like all of them, but they are catchy pop songs. Kudos to her writers and producers.

DWLF is still leagues ahead of this dribble. His band sounds really good though, gotta hand it to them. taylor.gif

I don't really think it's a sonic thing that bothers most of us on the song. Most of the board can't really relate to the jesus-faith-zion thing and we yearn for something introspective like selling the drama or run to the water. The scariest fact is that this actually IS Ed being introspective no.gif

I've said it before, but I reiterate for all the new members: I honestly wish Ed's family would die in a terrible car wreck just so he could write something with some passion again. Happy people NEVER accomplish anything.

Didn't even realize there was an Adult Pop Category. That's where this song belongs, if anywhere. Not saying it would actually chart. Not saying it's bad either. But lets be real, this is not a rock song.

yup very upsetting that best case scenario now is that ed can possibly compare on the charts with mayer and dohertry and train....who cares about chart position - i just want something that resembles anything on mj tc ss or tdth...i have a hard time believing its the same person who wrote those songs

God forbid, it is a very nice sounding song and the first song by Live-Ed etc I do NOT dig at the first spin.

Def. too mainstreamy to me. Much more than any SFBM or V have been.

Nice chorus though. Will get stuck in my head for a while.

Damn

Spinning some Ed tracks now. Zion is first up, and I like it. Grace is next, and I do kind of like it. I dig the Daughtry sound connection, and I think his voice sounds *ok*. Although it's still nowhere near the likes of old Live, I think it does have an extra weight that most of SFBM didn't have. It's alright, and should sit well on an album with Zion.

Honestly, I think I'll enjoy Ed's album more than TGF. I don't really enjoy the old rock sound of TGF, or KMs vocals, and so even thoguh Ed's new still has it's faults, there's a safe familiarity with it all. And I don't dislike any songs he's produced since breaking out on his own.

Ok. Let me have. *closes eyes, awaiting gunshots*

Listend to it a couple of times ... I think he's mistaking "heavy" for "loud". It's not absolutely terrible, but it doesn't grab me. His voice sounds ok, but the whole thing just sounds so over produced and the likeness to things like Idol are quite evident too.

The lyrics do absolutely nothing for me, while I'm glad he's moved away from all the similies he was using for awhile which was the sign of extremely lazy writing. This more just doesnt speak to me, as Morrissey sings "It says nothing to me about my life". That's not a criticisim, he can sing about whatever, but it doesn't make me emotional or anything.

In the end, not disappointed because I didn't have high expectations to begin with .. MUCH prefered Zion.
