Why do you hate Pierre? 90's rock? What sample did you listen to?

I hate Pierre cause he frickin walked on me to get the guys at the aftershow the last time the guys played the electric factory.

All the samples, I listened to the whole thing and yah it has a classic rock feel to it but also it feels STP, early candlebox/collective soul type feeling to me.

This album sounds like it has at least 3 potential major radio hits on it. I know there are more important factors determining airplay than quality of music, but I think this shit is really going to catch a good following. Believe v2.0 is one of the catchiest tunes I've heard in a while, it's radio friendly and it's real fucking rock and roll. This shit couldn't be better. How big do you think TGF will get?

It sounds more like 'Tweener' to me. I've never heard the term before but here are a couple of definitions I found online:

tweener (plural tweeners)

1. (sports) A person who plays at two positions, not good enough at either to be restricted to it.
2. (professional wrestling slang) A professional wrestler who is neutral or morally ambiguous; neither a face nor a heel, or showing no favoritism to either allegiance.
3. (cinema) A film that isn't very marketable because it's in between two genres.

All of the songs except for Appetite and Raimus are VERY 90's rock, tons of grunge influence. Of course, you'll probably think they are R&B or something given previous comments.

As for how big TGF will get, who knows? That really depends on who releases the album and how much money is put into promoting it. My guess is that at best the album could go gold if it catches on through word of mouth and the internet. Radio success would take a miracle.

These days it takes a really shitty band with a derivative sound to go platinum and have a huge radio hit.

The vocals get extremely angsty in some of these clips, but no its not a low voice. That is not everyone's preference, and it is certainly not Ed's vocal style at all. It is also one of the reasons Candlebox didn't catch on as much, which is a damn shame.

I agree that comparing it to other things is a little obnoxious, but its the only frame of reference most people have when listening to music.

I think I'm most impressed with how the band is handling rhythm, there are a lot of interesting twists and turns throughout, for example the verse of Believe 2.0. Interesting rhythms are generally a sign of a band that is inspired to make some awesome and different music because its difficult to pull off and largely unappreciated by most listeners. If I can be so bold, its a pretty good sign that Gracey was heavily involved in writing many of the songs.

The whole sampler simply rocks...I am thoroughly impressed with it. going to patiently wait for the album and shows. Believe 2.0's lyrics are catchy too.

The rhythm (meaning rhythm section) has always been somewhat interesting in Live's music, though Sofia sounds pretty straightforward to me. However, its much MORE interesting in several of these clips, especially the second clip, Raimus, the end of the verse in Believe 2.0, etc. The one starting at 1:47 is a great example too and probably the most interesting.

A word on rhythm section, since people keep saying they can't hear Live in these clips. A stap of Live's rockers has always been that the drums, bass, AND guitar play the same rhythms throughout the song. In most rock just the drums and bass do this while the guitar only plays with them when it absolutely has to. The Live influence in these clips comes in that the three are following each other pretty often throughout, making it have a distinct Live sound.

I've heard 'tweener' used alot to describe age. Kids going from pre-teen to teenager (hence combining 'twelve' and 'teen'). In America we always like to categorize everything...and from a marketing standpoint, 'tweener' is a big category...think hanna montana and jonas brothers...that age group.

Not into this at all. Not saying it's bad, just it's quite clearly a genre of music or sound that just doesn't do it for me, so I very much doubt I'll buy it. Cool that you guys like it though, must be very exciting times for you

Well, i wasn't blown away when I first heard appetite. It must have grown on me because I like it in the samples. A couple really stand out and all of them are decent, what I mean is there aren't any of them that I just don't like.

I am gonna be a fan of both Ed and TGF. I prefer Ed's voice to kevin's but I love the music that Chad, Chad and Pat are a part of in TGF.

I definitely wish Ed could have found some angst again instead of love shines and all that. The old Ed and this music would have been the album we've all been waiting for since TDTH for some, SS for others.

I totally understand that people get older and change. I'm happy for Ed that he has found peace and happiness. But there is still pain in the world. Injustice. Heartache. Those things are worth singing about too.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the sampler. TGF is gonna be a good band.
