Not my cup of tea.. In fact, I can't stand listening to this stuff. no.gif

Thank God, I was starting to feel alone. I just wish I heard more of the classic Live sound in TGF's music. Other than the last song on the sample loop, everything sounded like 70/80's hair band stuff. That doesn't make it bad music, just not something I personally enjoy listening to.

Fair enough. I guess TGF cannot satisfy everyone.

Honest question, when did you start to become a Live fan? I find it hard seeing you getting into them back in the MJ, TC or SS years and then watching them evolve from that to BOP/SFBM ... I always just figured you'd been a big fan since mid 90s or so but maybe you've only been on board since mid 00's or so which would explain heaps.

I listend to these samples over and over, some I like, some I dont .. this album I fear may have the same effect on me as candlebox. I initially didnt like them, but I gave them more of a listen and found some songs I really liked, but his voice just grated after awhile and everything began sounding the same and the shine wore off quickly. I just hope he can change it up here. He has good range in his voice, but not much variation, if that makes sense.
I really like whatever song Believe has turned into, and also the old Raimus one (didnt they say that was called 'The Few' ?). But some of the others I'm not sure.
I hope they don't go down the Wolfmother path of intentionally going out of their way to sound like they're from the 70s, it's awesome for a song or 2 but too much of it is overkill and you begin wishing they'd just "be themselves" rather than trying to capture a certain sound and have the gimmick if you will end up wearing thin.

Let me be the first to say, give me the old rock sound from the 70's with their original songs. We don't have enough of this today to keep it real. Music Industry is / has been in a bit of a quandry of canibalizing what made them successful.

I hate to say it but from what I have heard so far I am leaning towards Ed's album being the one I listen to the most. I never liked candlebox back in the day and from the samples I have heard it just sounds like Candlebox with a twist. I hear no LIVE sound at all in there and thats what I like. Even if it is shitty pop songs from Ed, I find so far I am enjoying Zion and Everlasting Love way more so far. Hopefully when the album is finished it will be a bit different than what we are hearing so far, otherwise I think The Gracious Few following will be mainly a Candlebox following and LIVE fans will stay with Ed even if he is an ass. Just my 2 cents!

Please tell me where TGF said they would be sounding like Live???? I think this band's purpose is to rock out, incorporate many classic elements into something new and fresh. I hear that. I am not going to bash those who don't like it.

Those who are under 25 years old, you're from another generation where music is not pure and basic and raw, it's manufactured, overproduced and cheap. I can understand your point of view on why it doesn't resonate. We didn't get Jimmy Page & Robert Plant in the States after the mini 07 reunion..........they were done and gone by the time I was old enough to really hear them & get it on the radio.

Kevin, Chad, Sean, Pat & Chad, bring me some Out on the Tiles, Four Sticks...... and some new generation Robert Johnson / John Lee Hooker rip at your soul riffs !!!! kicking.gif thumbsup.gif

I do not think that TGF sounds like Candlebox. The samples remind me of other bands at points, including Candlebox and Live, but the guys created a "new animal" as Chad Gracey put it.

Ed's vocal sounds tremendous. And it is a very wrong thread to discuss it in.

I'm not the one who brought it up...

There are a couple of tunes in there that sound similar to the Candlebox style, but on the whole its quite different. The best samples are the songs that really just sound like a true collaboration.

It all sounds a bit like Candlebox when they go louder, a song like Arrow for example.

But man I'm loving Believe v2.0 ... it is such a kick ass riff and I'm glad CT did something with it. Just can't help but wonder what Ed cira 1997 backed by this sort of music would sound like.

God this stuff is awesome. I could see TGF developing quite a cult following.

I know CT has been wanting to stick this project to Ed, and nothing does it better than Believe v2.0, which is 100 times better than Ed's pussy version.
