Man I am so optimistic about this new TGF album and the live shows! This stuff sounds great. I love the organic, raw, rock n' roll sound. It is what I love about bands like The White Stripes today - every song doesn't have to be like a perfect radio rock hit. I like that the music has that let-loose, rock n' roll, f*ck everything mentality to it, like Zeplin, and The Stones and old Van Halen and AC/DC and The Who. It's jeans and a T-shirt, damage your hearing, throw back some shots of Tequila and let it all hang out rock and roll.

We're getting two birds with one stone here. I'll walk the dog on a beautiful spring morning as the sun rises and listen to the EK sing about The Buddha and Jesus and Zion and Water. I'll sip an expresso and watch the EK perform accoustic in a coffee shop somewhere. I like that stuff and I love the EK's voice. Then on Friday night I'll crank up the TGF and instantly believe that I am 18 again. And I'll drink Jack Daniels at The Chameleon and bang my head with TGF until I get brain damage.

Now I am off to buy a TGF Forever T-shirt.

Badass, love the samples. Is it just me or does Appetite sound like it got the guitars kicked up a bit? Been awhile since I've heard the track but it seems to me like they really brought the guitars to the fore in the sample, more so then what I had remembered.

my Appetite track is called 'AppetiteWorkingMix3'

I think when it's finally done, it may be louder

QUOTE(Costakoui @ Feb 23 2010, 11:47 pm) *

The more I listen to the sample the more I like them. I counted 8 samples (if I am correct). I do not like much sample 8 but the rest are very good. I really like sample 5, while Appettite will possibly be a highlight on the album. The other good thing is that TGF's sound varies and does not sound boring at all. I hear influences from AC/DC (Appettite), Candlebox (sample 3 and sample 8), Soundgarden (sample 5), Live (Ramius), Matthew Good Band (sample 3). I could not figure out any similarities with other bands in samples 2, 4 and 7.

I'm hearing a lot of Zeppelin and Stone Temple Pilots in there too.

Really digging this, especially Appetite and Believe 2.0 thumbsup.gif

By the way, you know that photo on their website, is it just me or does it look like Kevin was pasted in after? It's the area round Chad T's chin that does it. Either that or Chad really is resting his chin on Kevin's shouder.

Totally! The heavy black outline between Kev's jacket and Chad's neck looks a bit sus too...

QUOTE(Wambangalang @ Feb 23 2010, 5:40 am) *

it sure is different to live and im digging it. now that the little whining bitches who doubted the boys and demanded to hear samples have been silenced, all i can say is HURRY UP AND RELEASE THE ALBUM FFS! how do you expect us to spread the word if you cant even release your first album within less than a year of forming your band!! Christ!!!

Hey - this little whining bitch will NEVER be silenced... NEVAHHHH! I'm just holding my fire until I hear a couple of full songs and can call it derivative bullshit with 100% certainty. I don't want anybody thinking I've gone soft or anything.

hmm... I guess Im on the minority here. I do like the guitar riffa but just not crazy about the voice. It does remind me something like Zepplin but I guess I need to here more and adjust to it. Man, just thinking of some of those guitar parts with Ed's voice would just sound so much more alike what we have wanted for so long Classic Live! Oh well, time to move on I guess. Im still anxious to hear the final product though!

I hate to compare the tracks, but it is inevitable...

Too much classy to my taste. Doomed to learn the album by heart though

Man I go away for a week and awesome stuff happens...

I dig all of the samples (some more than others) except for the last one, which sounds way too much like Candlebox. Outside of that track they really seemed to stretch themselves to make music that doesn't sound like either band.

For everyone who asked if Appetite is a new mix, yeah it is. The drums have definitely been mixed more (with added reverb) along with the guitars and I'm sure the bass and vox too, but its harder to tell.

And I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Ed could pull off these songs with his new whiny vocals is nuts. Yeah I would have loved to hear Ed sing these songs in his old vocal style, but he just doesn't do that anymore. Also I don't think Ed could hit some of these notes at any point in his career, so the melodies would be all different for starters. That is not a knock on Ed's voice, but Martin has always had a voice that was higher, but doesn't necessarily have more range.

Ed's vocal sounds tremendous. And it is a very wrong thread to discuss it in.
