QUOTE(Hoodstock @ Feb 23 2010, 4:12 am) *

Great, now I'm getting the Nick treatment.

It's fine to hate the song. If you're saying Ed sucks because you dislike something he did in front of a camera to post on youtube you're just hating. You are well aware by now I do not blindly follow Ed. I'm not a customer of shit on a stick.

This was a quick post of something he did in his free time. That expectations aren't high.
We've had this conversation and I'm sure you're trying to invoke me with this statement.

If you don't like the Sex On Fire thing he did in the course of a few seconds and posted thats fine.

And you should be well aware that if I like something I would not be affraid to go "hey that's pretty cool". I like Zion, I don't hate DWLF ... this just sucks. Absolutely he just slapped it together pretty quick, but if you're gonna put it online you gotta expect people to judge. Plus I really couldnt see him singing it any better at a gig .. he needs to stay the hell away from falsetto.

lol dude and im not trying to invoke you with that, it wasnt aimed at you or anyone in particular .. i was just stating that for the most part I love live's covers bar Imagine really..Which considering all the covers they've done is a pretty good ratio.

That's probably a good reason why using his surname might not have been the best idea, now that you put it like that.

It's not the easiest of names, is it. Ed Kowl...chick? Kwolz.... Kawasaki? Fuck it - you know who I mean. It's that bald dude out of Live. lol.gif

Anyway, I gave up after about 40 seconds. I'm not interested. In my opinion that's one of the worst tracks on that KOL album and would have much preferred to see him cover Cold Desert or Be Somebody. Ed still has soul in his voice when he hits the deeper tones and that could have worked nicely with those tunes.

Not to sound like an Ed hater here but he sounds pretty bad in this. I don't know if it's the audio quality or his voice, but he sounds terrible up high.

Agreed?

listened to it for the 2nd time after a few days,......I like it, thought it sounded pretty solid except maybe for some guitar mishaps, try singing and playing, anyone who does it knows its not easy....now if someone else was playing guitar and Ed was singing, it would have sounded even better....and pretty much anything Ed/+LIVE+ has covered, they do an awesome job....so ya...I like it thumbsup.gif ...my 2 cents anyhow....

I love the chorus and I think he sounds better than the original artist.

Ed should have brought the verses down an octave and sung them with a bit of the growl that he had in the chorus, would have been killer!!

I feel like starting with V, his voice got higher and squeak-ier and kept going in that direction. During the chorus, I loved the sounds he hit - the passion that I used to know from Live comes through. But what happened to his voice?

I just think Ed uses his voice more than he did on the first few albums. Now, that doesn't mean it's always good as sometimes he pushes his voice too far, IMO. I saw him on the Open Wings/Broken Strings tour a few months ago and thought his voice sounded amazing! Also love it on "Zion."

Zion is great because he can sing the whole thing in a lower key. Isn't pushing his voice where it shouldn't go.
