Good to know, thank you. Seats are in the front row of the VIP section...decided to splurge this time around & am looking forward to meeting all three artists as well. I think I read an earlier comment that you are booked for this show as well, where are your seats?

Row C, I decided not to splurge. smile.gif

I hope they sell enough tickets to keep this show on. I hate that they call it Open Wings Broken Strings, because I think that name is meaningless to the casual concert going fan.

Haha smile.gif Those are still good seats.

I hear ya, I would hate to see the show canceled, especially coming from the other side of the country to see it. I like the name of the show but not a lot of people know what it means. At any rate, it should be a great show!

Ed may have screwed over his bandmates, therefore every song the man has written throughout his career is now meaningless.

Is this meant to have a question mark? Based on your previous comments in this thread, I'm assuming so.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jan 3 2010, 8:52 pm) *

I hate that The Gracious Few are basically trying to make fans take sides on whether to follow them or Ed. It is totally counter-productive to try to build a fanbase by tearing down your old one.

Me too. It's totally turned me off TGF. And the whole "righteous anger" of fans who decide to believe only one side is even more of a turnoff. At this point I have no more interest in their project.

And the really cynical part of me keeps hearing this little dialogue from my sister's favourite movie, Chicago, when the two killers get out of jail and one wants them to have a musical act together:
Roxie: It'll never work.
Velma Kelly: Why not?
Roxie: Because I hate you.
Velma Kelly: There's only one business where that's no problem at all.

And they end up a huge hit. Because that's the nature of the entertainment business

Denver show this weekend canceled.

This Just In: Open Wings & Broken Strings show at the Ogden Theatre canceled
Bad news for those hoping to relive the '90s this weekend at the Ogden Theatre. We've just received word that Open Wings and Broken Strings, the traveling time capsule tour featuring Eddie Kowalczyk of Live, Art Alexakis of Everclear and Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer, slated for a stop at the Ogden this Sunday January 31, has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. Refunds are available at the point of purchase. As far as we can tell, the February 1 date scheduled for the following night at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek is still on.

Ed actually approached me in the lobby of the Venetian hotel last night because I was wearing his hoodie. He seemed in good spirits and was actually very nice.

Show takes place in 4 hours, I'm really excited!

I wasn't trying to personally attack you. I just find it annoying that the Chad Taylor has basically tattle-tailed on Ed on his blog to try and make him lose fan support.

Do we know the backstory of why Ed did what he did, or if he even did it at all?

Nick would love to hump.gif Ed.

1.) Ed has been losing his own fan support through his actions and comments.
2.) The band stating facts is not tattling (this is not school Nick).
3.) Ed has had numerous time, and an open forum on his website, to respond and has failed to provide any back story.

I will buy Ed's new album (and nothing else) and give it that support, but the support Nick constantly gives to Ed is puzzling, like he's sticking up for a family member or something.

The show was in Vegas was awesome. I'm not great at writing reviews, but it was one my top concert experiences ever. The venue was perfect and probably about 90 percent full. The show ran 2.5 hours and all 3 artists put on a good show.

Leigh Nash came out first and performed a 30 minute set of mostly hits. She has a quirky and likeable nature about her. Her boyfriend played guitar while she sang her songs. Highlights :Kiss Me, There She Goes, and Sooner or Later.

Art Alexakis was a good storyteller but a so-so performer vocally. He performed roughly 40 minutes and really ripped into a guy was mildly heckling him. Most of the crowded enjoyed his set though. Highlights: Santa Monica, Father of Mine, Wonderful

Ed's set was amazing. He was in awesome spirits and put on a very entertaining set. The majority of the crowd was really into the performance. Also, Jen Lowe really compliments Ed well with the beat box.

Setlist: (not sure how accurate)
Get Ready
Selling the Drama
The Distance
I Alone
Turn My Head
Everlasting Love (Daughtry co-wrote the song, album out later this spring)
Pain Lies on the Riverside
The Dolphin's Cry
Beauty of Gray
All Over You (Ed and Jen really rock this one out acoustically)
Heaven
Lightning Crashes

Encore:
All 5 performers performed "Take a Load Off Fanny" by Bob Dylan. It was definitely the highlight of the night and sent everyone home happy.

I have to agree with the review above. The Vegas show was incredible & definitely ranks up there as one of the best concerts I've seen to date. The crowd really got into each artist's performance & the energy was awesome! I was not very familiar with Leigh's music aside from the couple radio hits of Sixpence None the Richer but I really enjoyed her solo songs. Her & her boyfriend (whose name I forgot already) really perform well together. I will probably end up buying her CD as she has a new fan in me. Art was good as well, great storyteller and good performer. I can say that his music is not typically my style but I still enjoyed his set. And, finally Ed's performance. In the words of Art, "Eddie is phenomenal!". Ed, as usual, put on an outstanding show. I think the set list is pretty accurate that is listed. I can't say much more about Ed's performance other than he really got into it and the crowd's response was awesome. He really interacted with the crowd too & that was pretty cool.

The song they performed together was fun too. I think they did a great job with it and you could tell they didn't have a chance to rehearse it all that much...but still, very good.

I was in the front row & had the opportunity to meet all 3 artists after the show. Ed was very humble & quite polite. He seems like such a down to earth person. Had the chance to chat with Ed for a couple minutes & he was nice enough to sign a small pile of stuff I took with me, along with posing for a pic. Leigh was really sweet & Art was cool too but very quiet. Also got their autographs & pics.

They did some kind of after party at a club over at the Palazzo but I didn't go. I'm sure it was fun too.

All in all, a really great concert experience and one that surely won't be duplicated anytime soon! If you have the chance to see Open Wings, you should go!
