Do you think the children know the other guys in the band that well? After all, they've been scattered across the country since the late 90s and only getting together for tours and recording, as far as anyone knows.

Good question. They know that their dad, until recently, toured extensively around the country, and around the world. It seemed like Live was out on the road every month for the last decade, except for 2005. I'm sure they visited their dad every once in a while on the road and knew that the band was a big part of his life. And maybe the other guys occasionally visited Ed's home when they were in the area. But then again, maybe they were never as close as we thought.

Well, I never knew my dad's friends unless they came and hung out at our house, or we stayed at their places on a family vacation or shared a cottage or something. Seemed logical to me that with Ed in California, Chad in PA and Pat in Florida and Gracey on the West Coast (I think) that they wouldn't have seen that much of the other band members or their families. Because it seems that when Live did get together in recent years it was for work.

Hell, if Ed's still friends with Adam Duritz they might call him "Uncle Adam".

I doubt you did, not at the beginning anyway. But people change and often turn into the person they most hated or dreaded becoming. if he's a good dad, his daughters will be the centre of his universe now and providing for them will be more important than his former beliefs either spiritual or political.

But the preachy aspect of his Christianity thing does stick in the craw somewhat, I agree.

Where did I say anything about him flogging stuff in the paragraphs you quoted? I was talking about his music. I don't give a flying fuck what he tries to sell besides music as I don't normally buy band merch of any sort. Apart from I might take a dim view if he started a puppy mill.

Whatever he's trying to sell... is not the point. I just don't see any difference in his disingenuity regardless of what angle he's taking to sell merch or music (or puppies). Although... if he started selling puppies backstage I would have to seriously question his sanity.
