Great acoustic versions of Everlasting Love and Lightning Crashes at the end(around the 34 minute mark).

Great interview.

I'm wondering when this was recorded. Last time Ed was in Holland (oct) or later? To me, this Ed didnt look weird at all and is still the Ed we saw for years. (I agree with many that the Christmas song perdormance we saw recently is a bit weird tho).
I recognise the interviewer from a lot of past-interviews with Ed/Live, such as Pinkpop. I think he's really a fan of Live's music.
I liked how the interviewer asked for exact reasons why Ed stopped performing with Live, although I'm not sure if he was aware that the band Live is truly over now. I was a bit disapointed the interviewer didnt start asking about his former bandmembers, but Ed possibly asked him not to do that (before the interview).
It was interesting that Ed had something to tell about why he felt like he didnt want to be in a band anymore, because he felt he lost touch, and he want to get back to how it feels to have the intimate feeling with the audience. But hasn't it been like this all the time? There's always a certain distance when you perform in a band, and that was already the case when they started. So why "returning to that feeling?" Maybe the band split up wasnt only about the contract thing, but also about Ed not really caring about his band anymore (and that's maybe why he didnt care to do things behind the others back).
Good version of Everlasting Love (although I felt like he changed like half of the lyrics? or maybe I just didnt hear it right in the version with the orchestra). It's still a very post-TDTH sounding song, but! I like this song much more than for example The River.
I hope there will be an interview with Ed soon in which he will be confronted with the break up of his band.
And last: I was really suprised that Ed anounced to kinda retiring from music for a while and focussing on other stuff (like photography?!). What about promotion for his album?

Uh....It's never been "just fucking thunder" or even just "thunder". It's been "ROLLIN' thunder" (reading it straight from the inside cover of TC). It sounds to me like that's what he's still saying.

so i didnt listen to the whole thing cos .. eh .. but just skipping through it, from what i can tell Live or the break up wasnt mentioned at all, so much for an "in depth interview". I cant believe that was the interviewers choice so I believe Ed must have made a clause that no Live questions be asked ... weak.

Also, toward the end of LC he sneaks in "roll of... HOLY thunder" which was what I was getting at. He also insists on sneaking in "oh my Lord" from time to time which does my head in. Just throws the whole shitty religion blanket over a song that could otherwise appeal to all... or something.

Well, maybe my sound quality wasn't good enough to tell the difference, or I heard what I expected to hear.

The whole thing reminds me of those lyrics bloopers that were published in a series of books a few years ago. Someone claimed that they thought
"Our love is like water"
was really
"Our love is like WALTER"
lol.gif

Except for that whole "angel opens her eyes thing" innocent.gif

Yeaaah but something like angel is a bit more subtle and universal. When you start going "OH YEAH MY LORD, HOLY HOLY THUNDER, MY CHILD HOLY HOLY GOD GOD OH BABY THE BIBLE IS GOOOD!" then it's all a liiiiiiiittle too much.

A lot of religions don't have angels. Most of them, in fact. Only Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains: not so much.

That is a REALLY good quality production... I have ripped it and converted it to mp3 for your enjoyment. I hope everyone sees this way at the bottom of the page. This download is worth it.

2 Meter Sessies 2009

Thank you for posting a link to the video so I could rip it!

It was recorded a few days before Ed played with the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam, on the 3rd of October 2009.

funny u mention it im actually on chapter 3 at the moment. Maybe richard dawkins should be the new lead singer of live, but instead of singing he can just read: "The angel does NOT open her eyes, for she is an illusion..."
