Out To Dry - grab a chair, I don't want you hitting your head when you faint...

*drum roll*

I liked Sean's acoustic guitar playing very much. That's the best thing I've heard of the TGF's yet.

And has anybody an idea who the little pomeranean belongs to? Cute doggy.

But my god, Kevin could talk a glass eye to sleep. lol.gif

So Chad Taylor is the driving force of a new band, but will take a backseat when it comes to stage performance and guitar solos? To me, that does not make a lot of sense.

Maybe Chad felt his solos didn't fit the TGF music. Whatever, it just shows how much respect these guys have for each other that Chad would feel comfortable doing something like that. It doesn't appear that anyone feels the need to assert themselves or their egos above the music. What a novel idea.

If they really play hard rock music, I don't even think Chad has the skills to perform nice long solos when it's time. He never really have been a soloist. That was a bit of a disappointment for me with Live that a lead guitarist haven't improved his skills that much during a 20 years career.

Chad has always been a far better riff and rhythm guitarist than a soloist. He also has a great gift for tones. Sean Hennesy can freaking wail a guitar so it makes sense to me.

I agree, but I always saw Chad T as a lead guitarist in Live.

He never was. Same as Edge from U2. Neither of them will ever be confused for Steve Vai. And that's 110% A-OK with me. Let Steve Vai handle that shit... he's doing a damn good job with it. But not everybody has to be able to play a bazillion licks in one measure to be a decent guitarist with a penchant for innovation. There's more to playing guitar than playing a bunch of notes. There's tone. You sacrifice tone sometimes by playing too much. I remember Chad saying one time, during the lead up to Secret Samahdi, that sometimes "less is more". You allow songs to breath more.

Chad not playing solos is no big revelation, IMO.
