QUOTE(PurdueSteve @ Dec 8 2009, 11:46 am) *

Ed's wearing a shirt with a blinged-out Skull and a gold chain.....

I know he is a fan of hip-hop. I'm even a fan of hip-hop but I don't try to look the part when I'm clearly not.....

Is it meant to be ironic? Is he taking the p!$$ out of himself?

QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Dec 8 2009, 12:33 pm) *

I know someone who is the singer of a local cover band and he plays acoustic shows at the beach and nightclubs and stuff and he makes well into six figure territory. The EK can undoubtedly make a few hundred thousand a year performing acoustically and with a back-up band. He might even be able to do better financially on his own than he would have done playing 20 shows a year with Live with an ask of $50,000 to $75,000 for the whole band with road crew.

Very true. I've always been told that real money for bands comes from merchandising. Even back in the days of vinyl, most bands and musicians didn't make most of their income from recordings, they made it from royalties, live performances and (after the Beatles) on merchandise.

Ed had a writing credit for the song, so they just threw him in the video for fun.

If I find out it was Wangsta Ed who wrote the line about see the chevy with the butterfly door, I'm hunting him down to kick him in the wizzle fo shizzle.

I've never seen that either and had no clue he had written a wrap song. Wow. That was interesting indeed.

you would hope he's taking the piss but i dunno, somehow i get the feeling he thinks he is that cool. But like pokey said, i bet on lunch breaks he'd sit by himself with his lunch box that his wife had prepared for him, crusts cut off and all.

Hola! this is eds new money plan. either write shitty songs . . . or open a gangsta car lot with the woman beater.

seeing this video made me die a little. Ed is dead to me

At least the song with tricky was decent. but the whole hip hop/rap scene probably fits with his new values. Hes a straight up hustla'. fo real

It just occurred to me that most people outside the 'fans of LIVE' won't know the difference between CG, CT and PD and some other rhythm section EK might have as a backing band... people will probably be like... "hey it's Chris Daughtry and will.i.am.com.whatever and that bald guy and his band LIVE (we saw him on American Idol) ....wow they're so cool!''

blegh. no.gif

EK on twitter 20 seconds later: "'yay twitteritesities! I'm hippi dippi cool! yes I am the same guy that wrote I Alone and White, Discussion and and and ... oh I forget now lol"

don't get me wrong... whether or not that secret contract thing is true or not - or whether EK's a dick or not... his new persona is just...I don't know...fake-ish.

I don't buy that 'Holier than thou' stuff.

Edit: sorry for the 2 seperate posts - browser issues.
