I will not go into any intimate details of those conversations as I think it would be more appropriate for the members of the band to share with everyone how they came up with the name if they so desire.

Bill Hynes

i thought there was a comp going around where the fans were asked to suggest a name for the new group, and the guys would choose the best of the lot......did i dream that?

also, is it too early to start throwing around ideas for the name of the album?

If you saw the list of names that fans suggested (on Twitter, SOY)... you'll understand why Chad went with his own choice lol.gif

QUOTE(Jon P @ Dec 6 2009, 5:45 pm) *

you havent even heard ONE song and made this comment. Unlike you, I have heard 2 full songs and a partial of a 3rd. They were very good.

If your as much as a fan as the rest of us, we can make that happen....

Well give that boy a cookie. You can big TGF up all you like, but I could hear a full album of TGF and it's not going to change how the likes of Susan Boyle are marketed. You really didn't get it at all.

And who, pray tell, is the rest of us? Don't make me out to be the bastard when I'm just stating common sense and am reserving my judgement of how the songs appeal to me by actually waiting for the band to stop self promoting on social networking sites and pull their fingers out of their collective arse. They do seem to be making a move on that front, so fair dos.

And for the love of god - if you even understood one iota of my previous post, you'll know that it will take more than a few enthusiastic fans. So unless one of us is the CEO of Sony or Simon Cowell, no we can't make it happen. Get over it and be realistic that TGF will have moderate success at the best rather than breaking through into a market of younger, prettier bands with far larger promotion budgets than TGF could ever hope for. And if I need to explain that I was attacking the music industry as it is rather than a personal attack on TGF, you need to stop acting like an overenthusiastic 12 year old fanboy.

I asked CG about the name when it was first announced and I mentioned to him that it had a resemblance to The Greatful Dead. He said that the TGD were in their minds as TGF's tour manager used to book The Dead and had suggested something along those lines for the guys to consider.
