I have to agree with you Kymra.
I don't HATE Ed. Hate is such an ugly word. I am just upset that the man behind the beautiful lyrics he writes might be ugly inside. I believe what Chad says and that is a f*cked up thing to do to long time friends.
He won't give the fans his side of the story because I believe he can't. Probably for legal reasons. I don't believe the drug thing either. That is one of the things I liked about Live, no one had to go to rehab for drugs or alcohol and they seemed like they got along with each other very well.
Yeah....I think he is just odd. When I met him at the meet and greet he really didn't say anything.... like he was just going through the motions....just signed my ticket and posed for a photo. Art from Everclear was totally opposite ... asked us our names, shook our hands. When I met Chad Taylor he was great, down to earth, joking around with my friend and I, talked about a documentary he saw on the tour bus on the way there. He was just more personable. Seems to care more about the fans. That is why I think TGF will be successful.

I have to say that I can't believe all of the negative ed sentiments on here....This is the guy that is the heart and soul of live who wrote most of the songs that we as live fans love so much and we have not heard what he has to say. It still strikes me as odd the email chad sent out...he didn't need to go into the level of detail he did and the fact he did suggested he was trying to get live fans on board for his project and against ed. We don't know if this is a p.r. move because ed has already had a successful start to a solo career and they are trying to win back live fans or whether there is truth to the story.

Either way we should not run off half cocked and presume the other party who has not yet spoken is guilty. Indeed what Ed has done by not retailiating is basically turning the other cheek rather than adding fuel to the fire. He could easily respond and create a twitter war but he has not done this.

I will sit back and enjoy what TGF and Ed churn out in the near future and not judge either of them harshly based on an email.

I think that if you really like live as much as I do you should do the same.

Good post mate, and I agree with what you said later on; the mudslinging doesn't have to get personal, and nor should it. But know that by Ed 'turning the other cheek' it makes me feel -and probably a lot of other people here - that Ed doesn't care about the band, or the fans. And this gets even more frustrating when he appears to gloss over the issue with little information and tweets about glory, coffee and 'loving us all'. Guess we just want him to make good on that claim and tell us what's going on.

I'm pretty sure they will be more disturbed if they find that nude photoshoot that Ed did in the 90's...

To me, this has been the best comment posted since the "announcement". Everyone is making comments and passing judgment based on one lousy e-mail. Who knows what the truth is. Before everyone was willing to give both TGF and Ed a chance. Now it looks like you all want to start a damn lynch mob or something.

I too will sit back and enjoy both TGF and Ed, and wait to hear what EK says.

Yeah "turning the other cheek" is a bad way to look at it if it is describing someone who repeatedly manipulates to get his way, and then doesn't want to face his consequences. On top of that, someone who tries to come off as some godly special happy man who in reality is just a egomaniacal jerk. It is especially irritating to those around him and those who he has deeply screwed over. This isn't the first time, and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. Why shouldn't the other band members get mad and speak out??? Ed is out of control, more than any of you know

I'm sure Ed can be a total asshole. I also imagine the majority of frontmen have the asshole gene as well. Judgeing artists on the type of people they are in their private life just does not make sense. If we only supported artists we knew were "nice guys" we would have a very short list to choose from.

For example, Ghostbusters is my all-time favorite movie. I've heard through numerous sources that Bill Murray is impossible to deal with and can be a total ass towards fans/co-workers. Should I never watch Ghostbusters or any other Bill Murray film again because the guy "may" be an asshole to other people?

It is just a totally ridiculous argument.

But Ghostbusters 1 and 2 are on AMC tonight! After which Xmas Vacation, starring another notorious asshole Chevy Chase, is on. All my favorite things are filled with not so nice people.

As a side bar, I just read the Saturday Night Live book and they briefly detailed a fistfight between Chevy Chase and Bill Murray back in the 1970's. If TMZ existed at the time, they would have been all over that.

Also the Jay Mohr SNL book has a two paragraph section detailing that when Live was the musical guest, they were the only band to receive a standing ovation when they arrived at the after party. Pretty cool!

yes absolutely. I had one or two different concert bootlegs where Ed says "this is our new song on our upcoming" album kinda thing. It was just really hard driving wah-wah pedal guiltars. It didn't have all that silly sound effect bullshit. There were keyboards but not overdone. It was guitar drivn, not keyboard synth sound effect driven like the disc version. I think even some of the lyrics were slightly different. It was a huge disappointment to hear the finished version.

I have the one that I'd say probably splits the first really awsome version I heard and the cd version. It's still much better than the disc. You want? I can email it to your or get it to you somehow. let me know.
