I predict that there will be no response to all of this from Ed. Ed is too smart to address this with the potential of litigation hanging out there.

I can't believe that last year at this time, I read a blog by CT that actually had an impact on my life. I had just been laid off from work, and I happened to read his blog on December 4, 2008, regarding the power of positive thoughts and avoiding negativity in your life. I never forgot that blog, it was one of the only blogs by CT that I actually read in its entirety in 2008. I tried to practice some of the exercises he mentioned, like meditating and dissolving all negative thoughts. Here's a quote from that blog..

"The downside to thought is that we tend to let negative thoughts fill our world. Catch yourself (and its tough at first) speaking a negative phrase and never let it be finished. Simply turn it around. Help your friends do the same. Remind them that they too want the best for themselves and the people that surround them."

When I read that blog, I never dreamed that I'd see the end of Live less than a year later. I thought it was going to be all positivity for Live... guess I was wrong.

What a debacle...this is going to get ugly. Naive as it sounds, I never thought THIS band would end like this.

Well sometimes things have to get ugly before they get better. Like CT said, life does have a way of working things out. I too will separate Live into two eras, pre-V and then V and everything after.

The ego is a crazy, mysterious thing. I spend a good part of my life trying to learn about it, improve it, heal it, and so on, and the music of Live was a part of that for quite some time. Mostly back in the 90s.

I love how CT is still speaking respectfully of Ed and Live's past. That's an awesome way to handle it. In fact, I think CT has handled this very well and is really emerging as a leader.

Whatever happened between the members of Live were not the fans business. Sending out that particular info on the Live newsletter was totally uncalled for. I would hate to think what you thought would be a disrespectful way to handle the situation.

Who knows what was being said about those guys? Maybe Ed was going around talking shit about them in private and they collectively decided to bring it out into the open so it couldn't fester underneath any longer.

Anybody who's been around gossip enough would know that the best way to handle that shit is to bring it out into the light so that people can see the truth about everything.

I think the FOL letter, while a little more tactful than the blog, probably shed too much information on the situation. It should have been more vague, said the hiatus was most likely a break-up and called it a day. Alas, this was not the case. However, I think if Chad wants to quash what he feels are inaccurate "rumors," then the post on his blog was entirely his call.

Of course its the fans business. The fans gave the band a career for the past 20 years. As a fan I would rather hear the truth from a proper source instead of "creative differences" bs that most bands throw around when they break-up.

So when members of your family get a divorce, its your business to know the exact reason? The XMAS letter should contain all the people your Uncle cheated on your Aunt with? Get real.

Don't bother, he would have loved this approach if Ed had done it.

I have to admit that as much as I enjoy watching a good old fashioned rural Eastern Pennsylvania, Jerry Springer style, intra-family, personal, ugly and humiliating fight, Chad may someday find it regrettable that he went to as much ugly detail and aired so much dirty laundry for the public to see. There is obviously a lot of pain and anger here. But when the smoke clears and cooler heads prevail, and they look back on this a while from now, that FOL email and blog post might not seem like it was such a good idea.

I've fealt a huge amount of anger and hatred for people in my life and I've struggled with keeping it from turning into something I'd regret. Soon, forgiveness and compassion set in and then the other person loses their power over you. And then you're glad that you didn't say or do the things you wanted to at the time. I think we've all experienced something like that.

Actually I would love to know who my Uncle cheated with so I could congratulate him. My Aunt is a giant bitch.

So, if these guys decide they want to use the name Live and get a new singer, and he had never sent this e-mail, what would any of us think? Without revealing why Ed was kicked out of the band they wouldn't have the ability to use the name without a lot of confusion for fans. That's their right.

These guys have lawyers on tap, and they are big boys. I have a hard time believing that this wasn't done without a lot of thought.

Also, keep in mind that Ed had been using FOL to send out e-mails promoting himself. Chad using the FOL e-mail system is pretty significant, as it seems like the guys being able to use the name Live is a very new development in their legal matters.

Personally I'll be glad to not get another e-mail about Eddie K's pendant...

The part about acknowledging Live's past and Ed's contributions is certainly respectful, I don't think that's arguable.

As for the airing of dirty laundry - I thought it was warranted in this case. I think being truthful (we can debate another time the "truth" of the matter) and confrontational is a form of respect. If I do not respect someone, I do not bother confronting them privately or publicly. Confrontation has a purpose - it's a step in resolving issues. This may be a very positive thing for the future of Live.

Whether or not it's our business isn't relevant here (and of course it's not our business). It's a matter of CT wanting to set the record straight about the band. No, we don't have a right to know. But CT does have a right to give an explanation. And if, in order to explain his actions and reasoning behind it, he needs to give some detail, I think that's justified.
