and..............here we go uhoh.gif

I fear this will turn out in a Twitter-fight. Do you think Ed will explain anything further than that it's 'untrue' on his own blog?

Live's wikipedia page is already updated:

"On November 30, 2009, Taylor confirmed that the hiatus of the band was most likely a permanent rift. He cited Kowalczyk's demands of a $100,000 "lead singer bonus" at the 2009 Pinkpop Festival and a 2005 contract that put Kowalczyk as the sole signature of the band's publishing company, Black Coffee Publishing Inc., as reasons for this break-up. These sentiments were also conveyed in a letter to fans from the band (minus Kowalczyk), sent via e-mail to members of Live's mailing list at FriendsofLive.com. Taylor, did however, leave open the possibility of a new vocalist for Live. As of November 30, Live's official Facebook page was updated to remove all mentions of Kowalczyk's name from the line-up."

...I'm sure we'll see another update very soon. Should be interesting to hear Ed's side of the story!

He'll need to say more than that if he's going to say anything at all. As much as a public spat would suck .. I can't deny being somewhat interested.

I wonder if this is a publicity stunt from both sides to drum up attention for both projects to be released (from Ed and TGF). It almost seems canned and out of left field to me.

Of course, it's a pretty shitty advertisement campaign if that's what it is... eh.gif

That's a thin response and simply an easy spin. Chad gave specifics of back office wrong doings with the corporate entity known as Live. It's like a limited partnership, and one of the voices/board members does bad financial dealings w/o the other members knowing or approving. Chad's statements where Ed has rebuked him regarding settling it nicely haven't worked.

Things always happen in 3's. First the balloon boy, then the White House crashers, maybe now it's Live.. all wanting to drum up attention for more publicity. lol.gif Seriously though, I doubt this is a publicity stunt, unfortunately.

zman, I've had these fears since 2001 and the evolution into the abyss with V and the way Ed has pushed himself into the front.

Give em too much rope, & you'll f*ck it up!!!

He'll have to respond more than that, and he knows it. I was looking at tickets for the Vegas OWBS tour, and saw you could buy VIP seats which includes a meet and great of the artists afterwards. EK will no doubt get a bunch of questions and accusations, and he does not want to deal with that.

I'm not going to take sides yet, although others sadly have, until I hear EK's statement. If it's generic, and full of "that's not true", well, then I'll figure out what I'm going to do.

I'm not saying that CT is not telling the truth, but this happened in 2005, right. It took four years to discover this contract ? There are three other members and they didn't discover this contract for years and years ? What about all the people around Live ? The managers, accountants, etc ? If my wife signed something, that effected our finances, I don't know that it would be four years before I noticed this. I suppose it could happen, but let's see EK's explanation.

And again, not to dismiss CT (love the guy), but he's seems like a no nonsense, to the point kind of guy. But yet ... lawyers ? Letters ? WTF ... I just picture CT kicking ED's ass and moving on.

Just my $0.02 ...

I think some people hold these guys on too high of a pedestal. They may have created music that impacted your life, but they're still just musicians. They're still just a bunch of guys from Pennsylvania. Not one of them is perfect. Of course, there's a difference between somebody who tries to live through, under, around, or over their imperfections and someone who embraces their imperfections and magnifies the hell out of them with their actions.

Personally, this doesn't affect me either way. I don't get shocked by shit like this anymore. Life, and the shit therein, makes all this trivial as humanly possible. As a fan of the band's music it disappoints me for the same reason it disappoints everybody else. Because the same guys who wrote and recorded Throwing Copper are now the same guys in a little Twitter pissing match...
