Too late, it's Pink Floyd circa 1982.

Chad's words were respectful of Ed, but Ed's actions went across the lines of friendship and family bonds.

It's a true backstab in the world of music and entertainment for personal gain.

Having said all that though if this is all true about the 100 grand and the 'contract' then it is very disappointing to say the least. Whilst I hope there is another side to this story, for the band's sake I don't want this to turn into a slinging match either.

The 100,000 grand lead singer fee sounds like the outcome of previous issues within the band. Why would Ed only pull this card for one show? Something deeper there.

I don't feel that there is any real innocent party within the break-up. Anyone who has ended a relationship, or has had friends end a relationship, knows that there always is another side to a story. I'm not saying that Ed is guilty of wrongdoing, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that the relationship between Ed and the rest was functional and healthy to begin with.

wow woke up this morning to this massive shit storm ... pretty full on stuff. guess that'll teach me for doubting Jon P.

It's a pretty underhanded thing for Ed to have done after all these years ... the "lead singers bonus" is just ridiculous ... I can't imagine how he managed to asked for that and thought everyone would have been "oh yeah definitely you deserve that, what a great idea!"
Basically I'm disappointed and like Ridley said the job now is seperating old live from all this .. MJ - TDTH is the Live I'll always love with a front man who would have despised "The EK". But I guess things and people change .. he has a family and lives in a different place and for whatever reason thought this was the best thing for him to do and it cost him respect, friends and his band.

I doubt we'll even get a public response from Ed on these new details .. he'll probably just continue ignoring the situation publicly and I guess thats his right. Even with all the anomosity I doubt both sides want to get into a shit slinging war in public. Chad wasn't attacking in his explanation ... he just stated how he felt without resulting to petty insults and such which is really comendable given there is probably a lot of emotion behind all this.

I still have my doubts about TGF ... Kevin Martin's voice still doesnt sit right with me. He just sounds so unmasculine and whiney compared to how hard this music sounds .. even Ed these days wouldnt fit right, you'd need mid 90s Ed. But I'll still give it a shot because who knows .. what I do know is emotionally I feel more behind TGF

Can you say.. HOAX!

The only thing missing from Live.. to this point.. was a good story. Now Ed will appear on Celebrity Rehab, then every other reality tv show, and then when they're household names again, they'll get back together.

Chad Taylor is a class act, he's helped a lot of local bands, still lives in town (Six degrees... he bought my brother's good friends parents house back in the early 90's and still lives there)

Whoa, what a shocker, Ed screwed over the band...nobody saw that coming a million miles away.....

I've covered this ground many times before but the best Live work was done when the band fully collaborated and/or when Jerry Harrison was producing the albums. As soon as I heard that Jerry Harrison was producing the TGF album all the rumors I've heard about from periphery people around town were confirmed about Ed and Jerry not getting along so well.

I'm not sure which came first, the V album or Ed's move to California but that is basically when you can trace it back to the beginning of the end.

I guarantee that a Jerry Harrison produced TGF will be a much better album then anything EddieK puts out....

Somewhere along the lines of the TDTH tour I noticed some attitude change in Ed, the whole Counting Crows crap, the Ed Durist wanna be phase, V, rumors of esctasy addictions, rock frontman ego thing was all there for everyone to witness...he started to appear as the main voice and to me it appeared the rest of the guys went along with it. That can only go for so long. What we heard today is douche. I can accept musical direction squabbles but what Chad stated is simply grounds for the end of their partnership, and friendship.

Wow, I just don't really know how to respond or what to say about all of the recent news. I think after reading everyone's posts, the thing that bothers me the most is whether or not I'll be able to listen to Live's music ever again without thinking about all of this. Until we get a response from Ed, all we have to go on is what is infront of us, and it's not pretty. How will I get goosebumps again while listening to Run To The Water Acoustic when Ed throws in an impromptu "wooooooo". I hope that in time, I'll be able to remember the good times, the happier times and listen to the music while I think about those guys up there on the stage having fun, creating music. I'm looking at the picture of the +Boys+ above this post box and I just can't believe we're talking about the same guys.

These four musicians have turned wood, plastic and metal into emotion for me, for so many years. Emotions that I would have never known even existed, and for that I thank them. As fans, hopefully we can choose which Ed, Patrick, Gracey and Chad we wish to remember. I saw them recently in Houston at the House Of Blues, and when they started to play Gas Hed, I almost lost it. I will NEVER forget how I felt the second they started to play, just by the first few strikes of the drums, and then one strum of the guitar. You just can't put that into words. That will be the Live I choose to remember. Goosebumps on tap at any time!!!!!!!

Thank you Ed, Chad, Patrick and Chad........Chapter closed.......let's move on to see what's next, whatever it is, IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT RIDE!!!!!!! I know that the gracious few will always keep their fans in mind, their fans at heart. I hope the Gracious Few is good too. eyebrow.gif

One other thing I'll say: people involved in litigation or potential litigation need to be very careful about what they say and type on the internet. Also, people who type and say things that potentially effect someone else's business and ability to earn a living need to be careful in order to avoid becoming a defendant in a lawsuit. Chad should be cautious.

Yeah I thought about that but if Ed were to sue for defamation or slander.....Ed would have to prove that what is being said about him is not true. Well that's what I learned in Business Law class.

My love of LiVE came from the collaboration of creativity, not from the ED-Head show!

Like I have posted before, I saw Ed for the Layne Staley Show in Seattle and for the first few songs I was enthralled. Acoustic LiVE!?!?! Awesome but it got old without the others. I had the wonderful chance to meet him after and was amazed at his arrogance and ego.

Good riddance and I can not wait to hear TGF where creativity is a team project!

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Dec 1 2009, 2:08 am) *

Two sides to every story.....

Actually there are always 3 sides to every story. You forgot, that there is the TRUTH, which will hardly be uncovered yet again.

It is very very sad for me to be reading all this. I always counted Ed and Chad best friends with all their opposite views. I thought it was what brought them together. Ed's spirituality and Chad's down-to-earth manner. Now I give up. With all my beliefs and fanboyism, with everything the band did to me (and was still doing during the last 8 years), with numerous ways they saved me... Now I really am very very sad.

Not to mention that both my all-time fave bands fell apart this year... But it is another story.

I definitely know one thing. If it came to these terms, I would simply hit the road, come to my friend (or colleague, call him whatever)? knock on the door and say: ok, fucker, let's get down to business. And talk to him as a man, without any scent of online abuse and speculation...

I do not want to move on really and feel abandoned for some strange reason. It is not that I do not want to believe in what is going on, but...

This January I went through a divorse after 10 years of family life and soon after that I lost a guy who used for 16 years call me his best friend. I do know what it is when one part of a unity does its best to keep the relationships going at any cost, while another one is simply fucking it all up day by day. I do not really want to compare, because I am not a rock star or somewhere near that./ i just want to underline the fact that I imagine what a loss is. It is incredibly hard to overcome the hardships when it comes to terms of losing something real.

I think that a reunity tour (or show) is anyhow inevitable is several years. And funny enough in this situation I support both sides. I simply adore Chad's honesty and Ed's generous spirituality (do not get me wrong, i do mean the first 4 records). Live is and will always be my favourite band. for what they were. For what they did to me and my life. For what they taught me. The only sad part is that i never had any money to go overseas and see them on stage.

Anyhow, I am growing my hair for the first time in some 8 years again> So I expect some good headbanging to TGF next year and then I expect shedding a tear to Ed's solo work really. We'll see I guess.

Over and out.

One more thought btw. I really do nto want them to carry on as Live with a different singer later on. I would rather have Chad do the singing.
