But I am not sure what “uninspired melody” means.

let's say it's the first "shit" that comes out of your mouth when you sit on your bed with an acoustic guitar and start to compose a new tune. the same old automatic melody grabed in surface. nothing deep.

If Show, Sofia, WDWGFH?, Get Ready and Night of Nights are shit then TDTH and BoP are shit too. TDTH is one of my fav albums ever but i think that both BoP and SFBM are close to it. SFBM just flows better than BoP.

What is more inspired in They Stood Up For Love than the aforementioned songs? TSUFL was the poppiest Live song ever until 1999, but it hit the Netherlands big time.

One can listen to this album and think it is uninspired, but I think many people are saying this not because the music truly is uninspired, but because they just don't dig it as much as Live's other stuff.

Live's sound has definitely evolved, but let's be honest here, its evolved from album to album. For example, MJ sounds nothing like TC, sounds nothing like SS, sounds nothing like TDTH, sounds nothing like V...etc. Stylistically, the music has changed from a generally harder rocking sound to a bit more refined and melodic. But how can you make an assumption that just because the lyrics and melodies are "simpler" they are "uninspired." You can't make that generalization. Some of the greatest songs ever written (not by Live) have been the simplest of songs, the simplest chord progressions, the simplest melodies. Some of the best songs ever written didn't take the composer 2 years to complete! Quick doesn't equate to shit!

After a few listens, I really do like this album. Is it my favorite Live album? No. But they are better musicians now than they were in '94 and '97, and I can hear that in this album; I can appreciate that. And to be quite honest, I think some of these new songs are not just good...they are awesome.

I fully agree. I just can't feel heart or emotion in SFBM. When listening to a song, I focus myself on the warmt it can provide. And listening to SFBM lets me cold. I even don't feel like moving my ass on 'We are not alone'.

If some bands are able to make stellar songs in 10 minutes, then Ok... But +LiVe+ isn't.

I never liked TSUFL. And I never really liked RTTW too. But that's just 2 out of 13 songs and TDTH is an amazing album!

this is another lousy solo album by ed k - he now has three of them: V, BOP and Songs From Brokeback Mountain.

this band is not evolving! they are just plain lazy and it's getting old. just look at the setlist from the other night - it's the same exact shit from last tour.

it's not worth the time defending this band anymore...

This is my first post it months. I had to re-register.

I have gotten over the fact that LIVE decided not to play much rock on the new album. I was mad for awhile. But I got over it. I remembered the reason I liked LIVE so much. It wasn't the fact that they played great rock songs. But look at Mental Jewlery. There are rock songs, however there are a lot of slow acoustic songs. I know it wasn't pop like the new album... but what can you do. Live thought to themselves probably that Green Day's American Idiot was a huge hit and that it was a mostly pop album.

But whatever... here is my review of the album.

1. The River: I like this song. I have always liked it. It is a very catchy song. But compared to other LIVE songs from there past six albums it ranks kind of lower. 6.5/10

2. Mystery: This is a song that sounds really good when they play it at shows. But I dont think they recorded it right. Mostly because the dumb strings. They had no point! But nevertheless I still like the song a lot. Album version: 6/10 Bootleg/Live Performance: 9/10

3. Get Ready: This was a song I had not heard before so it was an exciting listen. Nothing special but it might grow on me. 7/10

4. Show: I loved this song when they played it Live. And I am surprised to say they caught it perfectly on the album... all the emotion and energy. I love the lyrics. Probably my favorite from the album. 9/10

5. Wings: A really great song. I love the chord progression. There is a little too much reverb on the guitar but whatever. 8/10

6. Sofia: I like the music, but hate the lyrics with a passion. Mostly the cheesy rhymes in the chorus. 5/10

7. Love Shines: Back in August when I heard this song at the House of Blues in Atlantic City I loved the song. It was my favorite from the album. But I kind of got tired of it. Expecially the dumb keyboards in the backround of the song. 5/10

8. Where Do We Go From Here: I love Patrick's bass in this song. It is his best work on the album. The whole song works for me in gerneral. 8/10

9. Home: Like the peaceful lyrics. But the song is kind of weak. 5.5/10

10. All I Need: I like the music in this song. It reminds me of The Cars for some reason. But not a very memorable song. It might grow on me. 6/10

11. You Are Not Alone: I love the verses. The chorus is ok. And the bridge is too much. Ed should have taken a break for one second in this song so we could hear more of the music. 6.5/10

12. Night of Nights: This song really pisses me off! The tempo of the song. The verse is really fast and then the chorus becomes awkwardly slow! It would be a good song because I love the many parts of the song but... what can you do. It could have been a rock song if it wasn't for the slowness of the chorus. Least favorite on the album. 4/10

Live really tried to be pop. But they are really good at making rock songs. None of these were rock except maybe Show. But I know the next album they will realize "Hey you know what album was really successful? Throwing Copper! Lets make more songs like those! And maybe throw in a little Distance to Here!". Or I am hoping.

Never said they sucked, said that this album isn't a favorite. Live in concert Live is still amazing.

And you are an idiot for talking crap about Tool...go listen to your stupid Japanese band.

Well, everybody is entitled to their opinion I guess. But I simply can't believe that any non retard would say Night of Nights is the worst song of this album. I seriously laughed out loud when I read that.

Night of Nights is far and away the best song on this cd, no contest whatsover. I'd be willing to bet everything I have that if you did market research on this cd, the majority would easily vote this as the best song. But then again, maybe I have too much faith that the majority of people out there aren't fucking retards themselves.
