Bands like Tool, Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree (and countless other you could throw in here) would like to differ. How is 40 too old to Rock out? how is any age too old to express any art form?

No, you misunderstood. 40 is not too old to rock, and yes, there is no set age to stop "rocking". I guess I just don't want to see the band that was, essentially, the soundtrack to my youth - and still the best band ever (in my mind) go the route of the Rolling Stones or countless others. I don't want to see these guys "rocking out" at 50, 60 or more ! If Ed feels it's his time to tone it down, God Bless him. I'll be there listening. That's his choice - not ours.

Does that make sense ?

So... it's fine to rock at 40, but 50 is too old. How many more rockin' years do you think Live have in them?

Ed will sing the classic Live songs, TGF will most likely not. Easy choice for me.

Still lovin the "same old, same old" huh? Stick with what's repedetive, that's the spirit!

I'd pick TGF just for something new ... but really I have nothing but seconds long clips and a couple of demos to base that on.

mind boggling nick. Its as if the guys from live have actually been reading this board over the past few years, seen how dissapointed we were with the direction of the band and how utterly horrified we were with sfbm, read the endless posts about fans wanting live returning to its roots or its old sound post after post after post year after year after year, gone out and severed their connection with the thing holding them back and even hiring the producer which 90% of the fanbase believes is highly responsible for the success of that sound, recording an album promising to do just what it is we were all asking for and all you have to say is... ed because he will sing the classics. fuck

You must remember that whilst for years there were those constant posts screaming for a change to Live .. Nick stood strong. He was from memory always happy to go to a concert and hear them play The River 7 times in one night while the rest of the setlist is made up of ONLY the singles because songs that wern't singles will hurt the show and the audience will be confused and not understand these strange songs they haven't heard on the radio and they will throw bottles at the stage in rage! So really, Nick is just sticking to his guns here.

Can someone strip away Ed singing the songs and hear the music. If someone did that and simply heard the 'Live' sound, most would be amazed at the powerful chords they play. I know there is no song w/o the lyrics, but shit, the sound is what drew me to Live, then the lyrics behind the sound.

Listen Eds like every other frontman. Big Ego, wants all the cred and publicity. I will say again. I hope his projects go well and TGF's too. At some point, their fanbase will be clamoring for Heavy Live part 2.

I think Chad T mixing the Sean Connery clip into that TGF sound byte was no coincidence. 'Listen to their Rock n Roll'

i guess you're right. And at the risk of sounding highly immature, i think nick's dick just goes hard for ed. Its the only explanation

I'm sure The Gracious Few will put out a solid CD, because they are five talented musicians. That said, Ed basically wrote/co-wrote Live's entire catalogue of songs, which for my money, are amazing from top to bottom. Not everyone on this board may feel that way, but I do.

Plus, I have thoroughly enjoyed the three Ed acoustic shows that I've attended. He's been putting a more intimate spin on classic Live songs and it is just been amazing to watch. I am also looking forward to the full band rock shows he has planned for 2010. Will he rock as hard as TGF? Probably not. But I never have judged a concert on how loud the music is, only on how I personally relate to the songs.

I don't feel Kevin Martin's lyrics will inspire me the same way Ed's has. Particuarly since I only like a handful of Candlebox songs. Hard rock with screeching vocals have never been my thing. The lighter Candlebox songs are the ones that I've found more tolerable(Far Behind, Miss You), TGF look to be heading into the other end of the spectrum.

Some on this board will like TGF over Ed, others will do the opposite. I will support both, and I'm hoping to like both. I just feel that Ed is more of a sure thing on my end.

thats more understandable nick, and i even agree with you there in some ways. See if only you took the time to explain it the first time, all of these unfortunate things would not have to be said. Lets not go into who called who a faggot dick muncher, or who went on a rant and rave about what, its all in the past, but i think we can agree on one thing. its your fault.
