Have listened to SFBM twice, I like it - and agree that is more pop than Rock- Railo is back and sometimes its good, and sometimes its too much- too polished. I probably like it more because it's +Live+, if it was unknown band or a newer band I dont think I would like it as much. Just wish they would ROCK a little more. - I guess that's what's good about seeing them live -as they play lots of the older stuff and ROCK OUT big time. Looking forward to seeing them here in Boston- still can't believe they are playing at Avalon- First it was the Tweeter center- about 17,000 seats ? then Worcester about 12,000 seats, then The Hampton Beach Casino- capicty about 1,800, and now Avalon - Capacity about 1,500? . Still cant believe they cant sell out a bigger place - Im not complaining- as I will get to see them up closer than if it was at an arena guitar.gif but still surprised.
annnnnnnnyway, Going to buy it anyway - as the "real " cd sounds and looks better.

Edited to say that I have the songs now! smile.gif

I happen to love SFBM! My computer crashed last night though and I lost the songs. I checked out that guy's myspace and the songs aren't perfectly clear and I'd like them on my comp. I was just wondering if anyone could send me the songs cause I'm afraid that website I downloaded the songs from is what killed my computer. Or you could post them on yousendit.com. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

I just gave it one listen, I also have heard a few of the songs back in Sept. They played a few at HOB, Anaheim. Anyway, my initial two cents.

I was not expecting a dark edgy rocker like Secret Samadhi, which is my favorite album. They are growing up, having chilren, mediatating a lot and getting a bit mellower. Their songs are reflecting where they are right now. In my heart of hearts I wish it was a dark edgy rocker. But that's okay. I know I will get that when I see them in concert. That's for sure.

Some of these songs are insightful. I expect a lot of them to be growers. I am still a fan 100%. I really don't expect a huge rocker from them again. I would love to be proven wrong.

I have only listened to the album once, I do like it. It is not even close to being one of my favorites, but I am hoping it grows.

Show was a good song.

listened about 3 times now and the good sign is the album is a grower. BOP is an album i enjoyed and then quickly got tired of. This album is going the opposite way in that I was indifferent on first listen but am latching on to certain songs as i listen to it more. its definitely better than the previous two but i'll have to reserve judgement on how it stacks up against the big 4. Night of Nights and Where Do We Go From Here kick ass. Also Home is alot better than i thought it would be. I actually consider it a standout track.

Exactly my thoughts, couldn't agree more.
BOP I loved at first listen and then it went downhill, SFBM shows definite growing potential.
Home is a favorite for me too.

Well, I listened to the new album and here is my review:

This album is very good. There are 5 excellent songs (Get Ready, Show, Sofia, WDWGH? Night of Nights). Mystery, Wings and The River are ok, the rest are listenable. All I Need and You Are Not Alone remind me of Everytime I see your face and Out to dry off BoP. Home is not as bad as described in the massage board and it is better that All I need and You are not alone.

SFBM is better than V, BoP and MJ. In my Live list, it comes fourth. It is poppy but this is not new to Live; go and listen again to songs like The Distance, Sun, Children’s Son, and We Walk in the Dream. Some of you here very often compare SFBM with TDTH in order to argue that the former is less inspired and more poppy. Well, TDTH is very poppy as well; actually it was the first Live’s departure from the hard rock sound of TC and SS.

Some of you might wonder how SFBM is better than MJ. To me, MJ is the second worst Live album; it only tops V. It is very acoustic and the voice so premature. If MJ was remastered as a heavy rock album it would be amazing.

One more thing: somebody asked “what happened to Live?” This question was asked again by many TC-era fans when SS and TDTH were released. Live is unique because all of their albums do not sound alike, and offers us catchy and meaningful songs without duplicating LC, I Alone and Iris. I am a big fan of Live not because these guys wrote Lightning Crashes and sold millions in the 90s, but because I can enjoy LC, Lakini’s Juice, TDC, but also Deep enough, Forever, Flow, Like I do, Sofia etc…. all very different from each other.

I give SFBM 4 stars. Live is still out there writing amazing music.

this is where you're 95% wrong surrender.gif (but I'm just giving MY opinion)

first, if you need some rocky versions of the MJ tracks, just get both Rhode Island '93 and Sao Paolo '94 concerts!!!

I think I've never been waiting for "Throwing Copper 2" or "Secret Samadhi 2". I also loved +LiVe+ because of their ability to give each of their new albums (let's say even each of their new songs) something they've never done before.

BUT I'm always waiting for a proof of real investment and dedication in the new material any band I like is offering.

With SFBM, they reach a point in mediocrity. I'm actually forcing myself to listen to the album over and over again, but I must admit I'm never gonna dig it...

The melodies are totally uninspired. Guitar progression and riffs are easy. Lyrics are repetitive and boring. That "10-minutes-to-make-a-song" pack just don't convince me. omg.gif

You are not the only one who disagrees with me and I have no problem with this; disagreements are usually fruitful, they make us think.

But I am not sure what “uninspired melody” means. Is the melody of Run to the Water inspired? This song, like many songs off TDTH, could nicely fit in SFBM. What counts for me is a melody that sounds nice and makes me feel good while I am listening to it regardless of the time needed to be produced. I am not a musician and I only trust my ears and my feelings rather than musical knowledge. SFBM has songs that are better than most BoP, many songs on TDTH, V, MJ, and couple of songs from TC and SS.

If Live merged BoP and SFBM into a single album including: She, Run Away, Like I do, Lighthouse, Rivertown, Get ready, Sofia, Show, WDGFH, Night of Nights, it would be one of the best albums of the decade (IMHO).
