By the way, they can cover whatever the fuck they want, including Live and Candle Box shit!

We all know Nick is a severe Ed fanboy. No matter what Ed puts out, Nick would dance around and throw praise.

Holy shit, a single fails. According to you everything Ed does is a single. You holding a grudge against the rest of the band?

This is true, Nick does believe this. cool.gif

I'd still prefer it if Live were never popular again.

Well, this is an interesting thread. I have rarely posted on these boards, but have lurked for what seems like years and years, even back to the old board. I got in to Live with Throwing Copper, and have bought every album since. I saw them Live once in 2002, and again in 2009.

STP happens to be my favorite band, and that's who I saw Live play with first in San Diego. 7 years later, it seemed like a different band.

I have only my memory to go on with this, but the 2002 incarnation of the band seemed so much more intense and into the music. Ed sang more like a rock star. He was all over the stage. I even wondered how STP would live up to the show (though they did).

Cut to May 2009 in Anaheim, and the band looked bored. Ed went from a very intense performer to a smiley guy who shakes his ass a lot, and did a lot of posing. Definitely way different performer. This is on top of the fact that the band looked bored, and they rarely talked to each other. In between each song, Ed went back to talk on a microphone near the drumset (who was he talking to?), and then would come back front stage for the next song. Weird. Live just looked like a tired band going through the motions, especially in comparison to those other shows at the same time in the same place.

Before the show, Ed showed up to the House of Blues as if he was going to eat. He never did. He stood in the middle of the outside portion and got hit up for autographs and pics. When that died down, he went back into a little hallway and waited. We could still see him from our line. Soon, he emerged from the hallway, and after a few more pics, as alone again, and then took off. Again, weird.

All this adds up to me thinking it is a good thing that they are taking time apart. Coming from an STP fanatic, we got some pretty good music from Talk Show (with Dave Coutts on vocals with STP) and Army of Anyone (with Richard Patrick on vocals and Ray Luzier on drums with the DeLeo bros) as well as 2 Scott Weiland solo albums and 2 Velvet Revolver albums?

Were they as good as STP? No, but they did what they needed to do to be back together, ready to release a new full-length in 2010, and put on shows that had energy again.

In the meantime, the DeLeo's said some stuff about Weiland, and Weiland took veiled shots at the brothers (saying Slash was the best guitarist he'd ever played with, etc.), but people say things. And I wouldn't be surprised if Ed was a cock to work with. I also wouldn't be surprised if the other guys did stuff out of spite, and a lot of stuff was said. Dean DeLeo and Weiland got into a fist fight their last show.

But bands are like family. Sometimes, one of the guys is just done (like John Fogerty refusing to play with the CCR guys at their R&R HOF induction). Often times, though, you realize you really love those people and the good outweighed the bad.

Stay strong, I believe the guys will be back, despite what has been said.

Good post Lovemachine.

I've seen Live 16 times or so, the lastest shows, there is something missing, def not like post TC, SS and TDTH shows. I somewhat knew something, the years, creative differences would crack things, they always do. Hope they get their projects off to good starts and come full circle.

What show in may 2009? They didn't look tired to me, they look just like they did in 2007.

There was a huge difference in the bands stage show from May 2009 on. When I saw them in June I knew something was up....

That's true, I think you talk a lot of BS but you hit the nail on the head here .. and I don't know how. The video that came out from that show looked perfectly normal too but you knew the future. You should be burned as a witch.

Yeah...it is mostly done. They have been recording for a while, but they are saying 2010, then an extensive tour behind it.

In the meantime, here is Weiland's video for his 3rd single, "Tangle With Your Mind" off his most recent solo album. It is def low budget, but it is a pretty cute video:

I never said it was a good move. I'm sure these guys do plenty of other things a lot of us wouldn't like.

I think we are all getting to know the guys for the first time through 140 character messages, and a lot of us don't necessarily like what we see.

FOr sure. Seeing them do this , then actually see it on stage, and seeing the directions they are going is something I never wanted to see, i didnt want to see another sfbm for sure, but this is unpleasant as a diehard. To watch them act like spoiled children.

Maybe I'm crazy but I find all of this a lot more entertaining than another SFBM. bounce.gif

You know what, i just read through this thread and frankly, i am not shocked by what's going on. WHO CARES if they hate each other now? I mean, do we really fucking care? It's not like we could do anything about it. I don't find it classless, childish or anything what he says. I find it great that they are finally getting a lot out of their systems that they have probably had bottled up for years now who knows? More power to em'. It's their biz and their lives. If they want to act like asses on the net then let them. Makes it all the more entertaining for me. lol. In my eyes, i have been to well over 50 shows or so over the years. They had a great run. I have some great memories and i say bravo for them sticking together as long as they did for us fans. YAY for Live. I'm not going to freak out because of what gracey is saying on twitter [which sucks now btw]. I actually respect them more now for finally being honest.... lol.gif

SallyinPa gave us a good tip here. Now we know what many have been speculating.

Thanks Sally
