I really do not think TGF have a right to play any of the Live songs.

Just curious, but why? If Ed does, why would TGF not have the right to (not that they would)?

I think they got just as much right ... but shouldn't. Firstly because they've been so anti-live it'll just look like they're going back on their words. But secondly because any other voice with Live songs just wouldn't fit. I think 1991 - 1999 the other 3 guys are just as important to the band as Ed was, and they'd be the only ones that could truely play the music of Live that well (as in, if Ed got a back up band and did live tracks it wouldn't quite be as good). But with someone elses voice it would just be .. weird.
I look at Morrissey now doing Smiths stuff, it works ... Johnny Marr very rarely will play smiths songs, but when he does it's with another artists vocals and it just never quite works .. even if his guitar IS the smiths and better than any guitarist in Morrissey's band, without that voice it just doesn't work.

So I think the guys have a right to, I just hope they don't. But like FRC said, if they do, it'd be nice to hear songs we've not heard before in concert, give them a fresh start which would almost be like they were new songs rather than Live covers. Change, Don't Wait, New City etc..

Like someone else asked, why?? The earlier material has CT, CG, and PD's hands all over it and any song that one of them wrote the beginnings to is just as much their song as it is Ed's.

I'm not saying that I want them to play Lightning Crashes and other hits, I was mainly thinking of songs that maybe CT wrote the music for that didn't make an album. (I don't know the band's songwriting process at all so this may have never happened). But, those songs would be "new" to us at least.

I wouldn't want to hear them performing any of Live's album songs but won't blame them if they do, because that is ridiculous. They have a right to enjoy playing those songs, and if the vocals work for the song then why not?

I agree it can be weird to have another person's vocals on a song they didn't sing originally, but it happens all the time (Van Halen, Alice in Chains, etc. etc.)

Personally I think its more likely that they may flesh out the setlist with some of the Kevin Martin and the Hiwatts material because it is badass.

If the Gracious Few doesn't sprinkle any Live or Candlebox songs into their setlist, they may have a tough time finding an audience to go hear their shows. That will be especially true if their first single fails to get signifigant airtime.

I'm sure they will cover some classic 60-70 rock tunes, so why cover songs they actually had a hand in creating?

Yeah you can definitely expect to hear some classic rock jams at their shows.

I would imagine (or speculate) that they won't be playing a ton of Live or Candlebox, but I'd buckle in to hear at least a song of each.

Pokes got it right. They got every right to do that.... But really, maybe it is a bad comparison... but Queen. They did perform a lot of songs from their back cathalogue during recent tours... they just do not.. you know... work for anyone's voice other than Farookh's. Anyway, Ed did compose most of those songs and he knows how to perform them. And easily it is the way it is: TGF plays Candlebox's songs, Ed does his. It is more... logical if you want it to be called that.

On the other hand, I still do wonder how things go with Oasis now that they'му split and Liam says he still wants to run the band. Will he perform the 10 songs he composed for the band or what?

Damn, two fave bands splitting the same yeaк is really too tough for me..

Off to watch Russia VS Germany anyway. Wish my national team luck.

Indeed. And I don't expect any discussion worthy news to come up on the TGF twitter page any time soon. What I expect is yet another "ya this shit is rocking !! ya!! see ya soon" nothing new.

Holy shit, a single fails. According to you everything Ed does is a single. You holding a grudge against the rest of the band?
