Meltdown? really? and I've seen Sun been put up here many times for a shitty song, I just don't get it. It's a great song, a very different song for Live. Damn. To each his own I guess.

TDTH is probably my favorite Live album, but I'm just not grasping what is so great about this one. The slide guitar is pretty damn sweet, but this is where the "la da da da das" appeared for the first time in a Live song. cry.gif

I enjoy it but to me it always felt kind of like a filler track, I am pretty surprised at all the underrated votes. To me there are much better songs on that album (and ones that didn't make the album)

The thing with the "la da das" is that here is just seems to have a nicer melody, and I always took the "la da da" part to be the actual children's song ... I don't quite know what it means, but it seems to fit into this song where as The River it's a boring bland melody which doesn't really add to the song.

The slide guitar is wonderful and different and I really wished that Live showed that level of branching out with different instruments in later years, it could have really helped give some songs a bit of a twist.
The lyrics are some of my favorite that Ed's done, the before mentioned

in spite of my confusion
up above all my pain
I gotta death grip on this vision
here we go again

but also the lines

The face and ghost my guide
I must move on
It's the face of one ravaged by love
It's both dead and alive

There's just something great about the imagery that comes to my mind of this ghostly face that has felt the absolute highs of love and the lows of hurt.

lost in the maya
overboard in the sea
there was void and then that water broke
then something called "me"
now a trip to the desert to look at the sky
it's like never-ending mirrors
playing tricks on my eyes

That is one of my favorite Live verses ever ... there is just something so magical about those words together .. I think this song more than any other Live song just paints these amazing images in my head, sometimes I see desert, other times Mayan jungles of south America.

I gotta say it's one of my favourites - and I credit my loss of hearing to belting out the tracks on TDTH in the car!

ARGH Fanboys! I love all songs on TDTH, I just have to choose which I like the least. It is like choosing between sex with a blonde or a brunet... it is still sex!! No need to lower rep...

its funny, you hear a song so many times over the years it just becomes noise. Reading this lyric is like wow, he's talking about being born and putting it in such an artistic vivid way and i actually get it now.

maybe my new hobby will be reading the album liners instead of listening to the music for a while

There is no such song as Face and the Ghost.

Face and Ghost is awesome though, underrated

Wow... That line is really good. omg.gif

EDIT: For Wamb, No I am not being sarcastic. I never listened to the words that hard. I listened to songs like WFG and TSUFL so hard but ignored this song.

Sarcasm makes my right hand involuntarily reduce rep points. Like that movie with the thing that has a mind of its own.

the hairs on the back of my hand are beginning to stand up. please make my hand understand you weren't being sarcastic

Shit, I will always be saying that TDTH is a perfect rock album. The best in the history of music. Both lyrically and musically. And spiritually.

QUOTE(Badman @ Oct 9 2009, 3:13 pm) *

bottom 3 songs:

3: Meltdown
2: Face And Ghost
1: Sun

I voted it is what it is because it was what it was... not very good. I would change it to overrated after hearing you fanboys.

In my eyes, Meltdown is one of the best things they've created in their carreer.
