Brent Smith from Shinedown only sings some of his songs in concert, therefore he can afford to use his voice afterwards.

You are sooooooooooo wrong there BOY!!!!

I have seen only 4 shows and all 4 shows had 4 different set lists and I could post so many more examples but I would be wasting my time on you and your ignorance of anything that has to do with other bands who sound dont sound like milk toast at an old folks home~what you prefer.

Now I so get why the Copper twins jumped ship and shit....

I think we'd all be surprised to learn who does and who doesn't actually sing their songs in concert these days, and nearly everyone is using some form of autotune on vocals.

I don't really care either way but I'd love to hear more of your proof. Rolling tape for vocals doesn't really impact the set list much at all.

Like I said, I don't care about who does or doesn't actually sing.

When singing live a lot of people use a piece of software that runs through the soundboard and automatically keeps the vocals in tune. Its similar to what bands use in studio to put everything in tune, but works on the fly while the person is singing. Unless someone has perfect pitch they can't sing every note perfectly in concert night in and night out, and there are very few people out there who can do that.

Even some of the nicer smaller venues (500 max capacity) have it installed on their sound boards so that all the vocalists sing through it. If you really suck, it won't save you, but if you are good enough it makes you sound in tune pretty damn close.

Not all bands use it these days but there are a whole ton that do.

It has gone downhill. I'm going to make a "Funky explains autotune" thread and get it pinned to the top so I never have to explain this again.

to the person whose husband got sent the ranting email i would point you in the direction of someone called liverocks but i doubt he would go that far to stand up for anyone connected with live these days. but still, "yellow teethed dutch felcher" is pretty liverocks-esque

The singer from Shinedown has been confirmed to lip synch on occasion in concert. I'm not saying that he doesn't sing at all, but the guy has had trouble with some high notes on certain songs.

I'm also not saying that Ed isn't a dick to fans at times. I've met him twice: in 2004 he was a total ass, 2006 he was cool as heck. I guess it depends on what Ed you get.
