^^ good point. Seems like an awful long time. But like you assumed and I did in a previous post, they were just not ready and had no other options.
Think about it; these guys have been in the same band, doing the only thing they know.
After that many years in the one and only band, you become comfortable and the idea of it coming to an end is scary and you try to do everything to keep it going.
Perhaps if from the beginning the guys would give themselves freedom and ventured into other projects, none of this "boiling point" shit would be happening.
Case in point: One of my favourite bands Dream Theater have been at this longer than Live and had even less massive success, but they are going strong (relatively in the prog world) But they from the beginning do side projects, have other creative outputs have time away from eachother and then when time is right get back together make album and tour.
I guess what I'm saying is you need diversity and creative space.

So what boggles my mind, why did (and this is just going on what we read) would Ed write the last 3 albums cause he wanted it the way he wanted, and why they let it. Why not just make it your own solo album. Why they would not do something like this in a respectable and mutual manner back then? Then regroup and keep releasing LIVE albums. Instead now we have all this BS.
First time I personally realized (as in fully that it's coming to an end) was having a "LIVE" album with only Ed on the cover.

Just a theory (and I hope an extreme one) but Ed could have threatened to quit if it wasn't this way. As you said this was their livelihood and they had families to think about.

Seems to me like even though didn't write the songs for V and most of BOP the guys were still getting to rock out and write cool parts (a lot of the music on V is particularly cool in my opinion). They may have been satisfied enough with those albums, but not SFBM.

Man I don't know anymore. Personally I've moved on and wasn't hoping for anything good from Live for years. I just thought: Well the guys are moving in some musical direction and I'm going in a different one, so be it. As long as they are happy and whatnot. Wish them all the best, will always check in on what they are doing, probably won't be my type of thing but whatever. But with all this now, the old diehard Live fan in me is confused. A big WTF! Never expected it to go down this way with this band.
And hence the whole interest in what will come of this. Really, I've never seen this forum more alive then now. Be it under shitty circumstances. (oh and I have been here for years as a lurker and under a different name before that whole site update few eyars back, so not like I just joined last year, in case anyone gives a shit haha) Well then, let's keep watching this avalanche go down.

Guess you better learn to accept that you can't believe all that EddieK says. It's a bitter lesson but, sadly, true!

Yeh, I know. In that one song he wrote called "Dance With You," he tells me he wants to dance with me....guess what...he hasn't! What a liar! And that other song..."Waitress," well I thought everybody was good enough for some change? My waitress the other night wasn't.....and my food was NOT brought out on time...I was starved! tongue2.gif

It's like this....there are five sides to the story...

1. CT's side
2. CG's side
3. PD's side
4. Ed's side

and.................

5. THE TRUTH!

(oh....I guess I had better make that six and add sallyinpa's side...since she knows all about Ed and his lying ways)

If I owned a publishing company, I'd give Sally a huge advance for a book on the break-up of Live.

That's all cool but what the hey does my post have anything to do with that NIKKI!

Just do what you do best and keep this forum alive brotha.

edit: is it just me or is there a bunch of Live live videos on youtube now. There are so many now from back of 94 and samadhi era vids all over. (samadhi era ones that were always so hard to come by) I've never seen any of these. No more than a week ago it was always the ones I've seen for years and now I'm seeing so many new ones... and drunkenly watching and it's just hurting even more with all the shit going on now.

And don't forget the "We didnt break up. We aren't botfriends and girlfriends. lol"-comment tongue2.gif

Yeah, that was directed at me after I asked him.....his reply sorta indicated that I was a six year old for asking that question.

He lied. End of story.

Or maybe in Ed's mind, that was his reality at the time.

I think it's pretty definite though. There's so much hate going on. But then again....all of this is via 140 character messages. So who really knows?

As for CT and them.....Chad can take iPhone vids and show us Pat with a cow bell, but then in the next breath they don't have a demo vid or any sound to show anybody. He was bitching about that at one stage. Put your money where your mouth is and do a damn iPhone vid of the stuff you are doing.

IMO, TGF are not going anywhere.

Ed at least as a new song displayed publicly. It may not be heropsychodreamer, but it's still a damn song. WITH commercial value. I reckon it may be picked up by the radio stations.

TGF have done squat.

Man, last few days I can't stop thinking about this mp3 of Chad Taylor I have.

(recorded in 2001)

The times they are a-changing, as Bob Dylan would say!
