So much for the gracious part of their band name. Seriously, if they have something to say to Ed, they need to call him up and just say it instead of acting like children in middle school on a social networking website. What about the fans that have stuck by through the years? I don't know.....I just find it a bit upsetting. Maybe I'm just a big old Hypocrite.....I can get online and express my feelings...so why can't they? It's still a bit tacky.

Drunk or not, it's a bit out of character for Gracey though isn't it?

Exactly! There's clearly so much going on that may, perhaps, one day be known or not. Until we do know the whole story............give him a break, huh.

Classy or not, many of us have been speculating about the problems within this band for YEARS. There have been many signs pointing to this. Can you imagine what it was like for the guys actually in the trenches?

For those saying, why did they bother to play on BOP or SFBM. There are a lot of potential reasons.

1. It's their job - I know music fans don't like to hear this, but, if you've had a job for a long time you realize that things can get stale. Sure playing music sounds great as a career, but in reality its a lot of time on the road and a lot of scrutiny. It's a job, and sometimes you can't just up and quit because you want to, there are a great deal of contracts involved for bands that none of us would ever consider.

2. Maybe they believed things would be better? Ed has gone through many phases (religiously, etc.) from what I can tell, and maybe the guys were riding it out to see what would happen. Maybe they even believed that even if they didn't like the music that it could be successful, or that they would come to like it more?

3. Last possibility, that despite the musical differences the 4 guys were still maintaining a strong friendship. The band always seemed loyal to one another. Seemingly this tension had been building for a long time, so perhaps something finally happened that tipped the scales?

Again, just possibilities here but given that we all say things we shouldn't I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Have you ever lived your life under such scrutiny? At least Chad is owning up to it and not deleting his Tweet if it caused controversy.

There's always two sides to every story. Its likely easy for Ed to not be bitter, as primary songwriter I would imagine he brought in a lot more money than the other guys on the last few albums. That is speculation, of course, but splits over songwriting occur all the time in the music business. He can also go off and tour on his own to bring in money, something the other guys don't have the luxury of doing. Given that his acoustic tours began close to the split I wonder how much that contributed.

God I love internet speculation. rockin.gif

Definitely not classy, definitely not gracious. Same with Taylor's comments on twitter, specifically in reply to how Ed was ruining the band with his direction and the "God" man comment. Obviously whatever issues they have, they feel the need to express themselves in this manner which is thier right. I don't buy the comment about everybody says things they regret or by accident, this is a social site which they are purposely using for self promotion which they know all their fans are reading. Being as I don't know any real details, it is not for me to judge the guys and thir opinions, but for a diehard fan it is just really dissapointing how they have expressed them but maybe this was their only outlet, who knows? Before I was hoping for a break, but now I would prefer they never got back together. Seems now like the other guys just hung around and were miserable for some time. I wonder if the album sales were different if it would have had this outcome, because it seems pretty easy to go along with something you don't believe in for an easy paycheck and after it is not a huge success withdraw any personal responsibilty. I don't mind anyone stating how they really feel, but in a way to purposely undermine another long time friend and band member I feel is pretty low, but maybe Ed is the biggest ass in the world. Sucks if you have homepsun memberships as that franchise seems to be going down faster than the Titanic. I guess I'll have to wait for LIVE, Behind the Music on VH1 to see the details.

Thanks for the memories guys, I guess it was too good to be true but it was a hell of a run while it lasted!

Be a jackass much?

Yes it is a bit of a contradiction, but I am not judging those guys and their opinions. They could be completely correct for all I know. I am judging how they are expressing them. Say Ed no longer wishes to make the same style of music we do. Say we have personal differences so we are taking a break. Don't come out and say we are all positive, we love each other and then oh by the way one guy sucks hahaha so we are going to make this great rock band.

I don't see how I am a jackass for pointing out a contradiction that you yourself acknowledged? I agree with the majority of your post, btw, was just having a little fun with it.

I would prefer a straight answer from BOTH camps.

This is what I've thought, no one can say Gracey is wrong for feeling those things, we don't know the full story and I'm sure we've all felt similar at different points in our lives. But airing your dirty laundry in public just comes off the wrong way.
It's true, CG has said nothing different to what many have said here, but he's in a different position. The whole thing just comes off as petty, maybe Ed's done some stuff to really rub them the wrong way, we don't know, but Ed has acted with a cool head through this whole thing. I doubt he'll even dignify a response to that.

If you're gonna start childish taunting and saying the stuff that CG says then he's better off explaining the full story behind the break up so we understand why he feels the way he does., otherwise all we as fans can go off are what they publicly state and right now that is not making CG look good.

Damn it.

I never thought this whole thing would disappoint me so much. Really, sitting at the office and reading your comments, fellas and some small comments on my small board, makes me really really disappointed.

The fact that we hardly know a thing is the worst actually. While it makes grounds for speculation, some idiots like me become sad and disappointed to their bones.

You know, as my girl just stated (who is a very young fan, only around a year), it is inevitable for the fans to fall into two parties. Well, yea, ridiculous, but as it is. While some of us speak of Ed's ego and how his God-related thoughts and songs suck etc, others prefer to think that TGF are now behaving as idiots. Well, at least one third of them.

Anyhow, let us try and take an objective point of view if possible.

We hardly know a fuck.

Anyway if we consider Live as one band, as they once (ahem) were, where would they have been without Ed? I know, I know, old story, but really to people who do not really get into music, into one band,.. who is the leader? The one who sings. And Live have really most of the time (to the music world) been a band, led by a bald guy with dark eyes. See my point?

On the other hand, all of us know which songs we like, ok? Name some to yourself. I bet that it will be a song written by Ed. By Ed for the band. Or for himself. Whatever. It DID work for the band. Take LC, LJ or TDC. IA. ANY of the old songs. Isn't it like that?

But this is becoming quite a speculation as well already. If we take a glance at what is going on after the break-up (I bet now it is the way for the "hiatus" to be called). We have: Chad T tweets, Chad G tweets...errr... one POSSIBLE extract of one POSSIBLE TGF song... mmmm.... Screamd of bringing the rock and spreading the word... no plexiglass... errrr... "Back to roots-recording-in-York-again-stuff... And on the other hand we have Ed's toours around the globe, his very well run website, videoblogs, an online shop, spreading the bootlegs with a couple of new tunes recorded live,... Karsh Kale stuff, which is anyway INTERESTING, like it or not... Daily tweets (how could I forget about them...) and a huge gig with an orchestra, premiere of a new song and words on releasing a DVD. ALREADY. In a couple of months after a break-up.

So, who wins? The ones who chat online or the ones who work their asses off. Like always, actually.

To me the answer is clear.

I will not give points for now anymore. This Ed VS TGF stuff is pretty much childish and immature really. But it is, as already mentioned, inevitable.

I just really hope that both albums will be nice at least. And I am really waiting for Adam's new record. Maybe even more than TGF and Ed's.

Over and out.

QUOTE(SecretInsomnia @ Oct 5 2009, 6:43 pm) *
Btw, @ Chad Gracey: laughing at Ed for writing that new song, than why the hell did u even lend your drum-skills to songs like The River and Forever?! They are as much as a "rock-song" as Ed's new music.

Because he's got bills to pay? I think Live have been Ed Kowalczyk and his backing band since around the time V was released. Sadly for the rest of the band, Ed is, was and always will be the one with by far the largest talent. You may not like his new stuff but you can't deny he still has a great voice. Hence he's the one that can get to do stuff without the other three, like Layne Staley's tribute and with that orchestra. Have any of them singularly had other artists clamouring to have them collaborate or perform with them on their own merit? Don't think so or we'd have heard all about it on Twitter.

Up until a week or two ago I'd have said Ed was the one with the biggest ego, but both Chads have put that in doubt and at least Ed has something to have an ego about. And at least Ed hasn't bitched about the rest of the band. They really are going to have pull something astoundingly above their previous form as musicians out of their arses to not appear to be bigger twats than two of the band have already come across as. Musically, not a peep from them but The Gracious Few have already proved that their name is an oxymoron.

Well, I suppose they have at least got us talking about them and they say no publicity is bad publicity.

I think this is great. So much drama. Who the hell wants a rock band to ACTUALLY be gracious anyway???

The whole thing is probably one big joke between the 4 of them

Take this for what it is worth, but in his own way, Ed did reply by posting this:
