My Detroit Red Wings are opening up their season in Sweden against the Blues. I think it's a dumb idea, like playing NFL games in London, but it seems to be the new trend in American sports.

I was wondering what the press or public opinion was in the Stockholm area about the NHL playing regular season games there.

heh they AFL have been doing this too the past few years, playing games overseas .. London, Dubai, South Africa ... I've heard they're looking at America and China in the future. The crowd always just seems full of expats, in the Dubai game when they showed shots of the crowd it was 99% Australian I'd say by the looks of it. Was pretty impressive how they built their own makeshift stadium in the middle of the desert.

If you're talking soccer I can tell you that it will never catch on as a mainstream professional sport in the united states.
