BTW...does the community need a lossless copy of Born Branded?

Expect Swami's Contribution before the weekend smile.gif

Thanks in advance Swami - great stuff.

And HELL YEAH we need a lossless copy of Born Branded! It is surprising how little of the rare +Live+ stuff out there is lossless so anything else you might think of would be muchly appreciatory. I'll upload a lossless copy of the brilliant "Century - live at Pinkpop 1997" from the Pinkpop 2000 promo that I bought off you earlier this year soon for all thumbsup.gif

And thanks Hoodstock for starting this thread, it's about time the +Live+ community (what's left of it!) got together to be a bit more organised about collecting together all the rare stuff out there.

Speaking of lossless, I've been thinking for a while that it would be great to put together a LOSSLESS Rarities Collection (all officially released b-sides, live versions, remixes, holiday gifts, compilation appearances etc).

Something along the lines of these brilliantly put together Rarities Collections for Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters...

Do we have the interest and resources to do such a thing? I own all of the officially released singles, so between Swami and I we might just have most of this covered......

Is Lossless Format where all the original channels are kept intact? I have never really known what it meant. Is that what FLAC is?

So... if one had FLAC tracks they could make remixes and such? Is that correct? I am not sure because I uploaded a FLAC track to Audacity and it only had two channels.

I'm going to be uploading WAV files mainly because I don't know a fucking thing about any other lossless options. Everyone's got big harddrives, right?

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a file format that compresses original full-sized WAV audio to around 50-60% of the original size WITHOUT sacrificing quality or integrity of the original (unlike 'lossy' formats such as mp3).

FLACs are great for sharing CD-ripped audio in the highest possible quality (as they are 50-60% smaller) and can be easily transfered back to WAV by the recipient using many free software programs (you can also play FLACs directly in Windows Media Player etc).

Swami - check out this program for converting to FLAC, super light and easy and also free...

dBpowerAmp

If you don't have the codec for FLAC, it can be downloaded here:
http://flac.sourceforge.net/

I'd recommend going with FLAC over WAV. Another advantage that FLAC has over WAV is the ability to tag the files.

FLAC it's going to be, but it will delay the tracks for a day or two as I'll need time to convert and upload. So, sometime this weekend. smile.gif

Flac is good because it's easy to convert to mp3 tongue.gif I don't buy into the whole losless format is the greatest thing ever and mp3 users should be burned at the stake.

Ridley you must be thrilled with those catters! They netted me $150 from work for guessing the winning margin!
