Got this email from FOLinfo:

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE STUDIO!!

Greetings everyone from Austin, Texas! Eddie K here with an update from the studio on the recording of my album. Things are going amazingly well and are surprising me at every turn with new depths of creativity and passion. My producer is CJ Eiriksson. CJ has worked most recently on little known, mostly underground bands like U2 (engineer and mixer on "No Line On the Horizon") and Matchbox Twenty lol. I'm super excited to be working with him and he is guiding this project into amazing directions. I'm trying lots of new things while keeping the core of my message and style intact. There's a poster of Muddy Waters and "I Got My Mojo Working" as you walk into the control room. I smile to myself everytime I see it, wink wink.gif The musicians are incredible and I really think that the songs are some of the best I've ever done. I'm singing for the first time in the studio with a handheld mic, an idea I got from CJ from working with Bono who has always used this method. It's enabling me to get a more "live" sound out of my performances. I'm pretty sure they will be finding small pieces of my throat in this studio after I leave, I'm singing my *ss off!!!. I feel about this record a lot like a do when I have an awesome Christmas gift for my daughters and can't wait to give it to them. You're gonna love it! xoxoxo stay tuned!

I do think it's odd, but if you log into Homespun, you can still get in and it says they are taking 'Meet & Greet' requests for Ed's 10/3 in Amsterdam (though the deadline HAS passed). Dunno if that means anything at all.

By the way, has ANYONE EVER gotten any kind of reply from Ed on Twitter? I think that's a little odd as well. I've gotten replies from the Chads and even from Kevin Martin but never Ed. It seems he is always too busy hawking his products or his album to reply to his fans. I live here in Austin and while it is a fairly large city, it is still a small community (music and film industry-wise). I know exactly where he is recording. You'd think (being that Austin such a music-oriented town) that he might reply to his local fans and perhaps do a little "get-together" preview or something.

OK...I am off my high horse. Thanks. smile.gif

It's more than odd considering Ed is NOT LIVE! Four people were the band, not one, not two or not even three. It's offensive to me that any info regarding future projects for ED are relayed via LIVE official organizations etc. TGF are not promoting themselves thru LIVE sites and are not going to be performing LIVE material. Right now.........there is no LIVE! Ed needs to promote himself as ED all on his own. And that folks is how I feel about that!

I do agree. While he is sending it from his EddieKLive website and newsletter, he should not be using the "Friends of Live" in the From field. TGF has done an excellent job of grassroots promotion and getting their name out there. I believe they already have more than 1100 ppl in the fan site on Facebook. I think that is pretty impressive since they just started it a few weeks ago.

Ed needs to do the same thing. There are plenty of ppl who will support him just as we do TGF. But do it the right way.

Again, my two cents.

Now, I will say this. I just returned from seeing Ed jump onto stage with a local band called Wideawake. He only sang one song and sent a tweet saying he was gonna do it. A couple of us went. Turns out the guitarist (James) of Wideawake is the "mystery guitarist" in the twitpics that Ed's been sending out this week and, let me just say this now, he is AWESOME!!! James and also the bassist from WA are both playing on Ed's new album. I have to think that this makes things more interesting and I am really more excited now to hear what comes from Ed in 2010.

So, there you have it from me....AND, I finally got some tweet replies from Ed tonight...woo hoo.

And tnx for bringing the guitarist news. I think it's very important to have a good guitarist on your record, so this kinda excites me too! Bring it on Ed!!

If you are interested in hearing Wideawake: check them out on iTunes:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...ist?id=28447556

One great song on their new album is "Maybe Tonight, Maybe Tomorrow". It is dedicated to the singer's bride-to-be (who has cancer). The track's proceeds have all gone to support another Austin inspiration: The Lance Armstrong Foundation. Nice song and very inspiring live! They were pretty darn incredible!!

I had a chance to chat with James (the guitarist) after the show and he is really cool.

What song did Ed sing with them? What were his tweet replies? I wonder if Ed will recruit this guitarist to tour with him once he releases his album.....
