Thanks for remembering the setlist!

What a great show, was heaps better than I expected, Ed's voice was really good and better than I've heard even on some of his released bootlegs, hopefully he'll record an Oz show.
Bit miffed he didn't do Supernatural, but there's always tomorrow night!

But yeah, had a great time. The Forum is such an awesome venue, everyone sounds good there so there was no way there was gonna be any sound problems and there wasn't. Was really impressed with a few tweaks he gave some of the songs, mostly Selling the Drama, just a few ways he'd sing words differently made a really big difference in the songs.

Was really cool to sign pics/take photos after the gig, the line was huge, I think he was getting a bit over it by the time it was our turn, as we walked off he looked up at the rest of the line and said "oh man!" lol
Also was so cool hearing this line cutter get told off, little guy with a rat tail tried cutting in infront of us until some dude behind us goes "mate just because you look like a rat doesn't give you the right to be one, back of the line!" haha
I'd post the picture of me with Ed but with my shaved head and the light reflecting off the top of my head I look like I have a Captain Piccard look going on with hair around the sides and look about 15yrs older than I am so that aint happening!

Hey, no worries mate. smile.gif

Like you, had an awesome time. Was a little unsure how the night was going to go after he struggled a little through Get Ready but he really hit his stride during Selling The Drama and was brilliant from there on. Agreed, his voice was generally really good and he switched between the deeper darker notes and falsetto without any problems.

He kept the crowd well entertained, a lot of interaction. Told a lot of stories - many of which we've read about on this forum from other shows - and also told us all two or three times to add him on twitter. Also made mention that he's writing the rest of the new album next month and it'll be out in the springtime. Guessing he meant the northern spring.

He screwed up the lyrics in They Stood Up For Love but kept playing and got a good laugh from the crowd for it. Was fantastic to see a good part of the crowd standing up by the end of that song. There was this cute couple right down the front dancing together and Ed came to the front of stage and played a little guitar solo for them. Beautiful moment.

When he ripped into All Over You, he really had the crowd going. We were up in the booths but could see him and the main seating area pretty well. I don't think I've seen that much of a mosh happening for an acoustic gig before and my bet would be that this reaction and the way it carried through Lightning Crashes and Dance With You was what prompted him to do the second encore.

Awesome show. Was very impressed and it's a shame that I won't get back there tonight...

True, im willing to bet he was saving Sofia, Beauty of Grey and Blowin' in the wind for tonight but this is the only time apart from the 2004 awake tour I've seen them/him do an encore which I genuinely don't think was planned beyond the first one, the crowd pretty much demanded it.

Now, hopefully having done Blowin in the wind last night means he'll do Supernatural tonight, I don't care if thats the only song he does tonight, I just wanna hear that one again!

lol ok so Ed pretty much said the exact same things word for word tonight as he did last night, talk about being natural on stage. That was a bit disappointing, almost like he's rehersed what he is going to say between songs ... his schtick about Melbourne vs Canberra is funny, there really is no rivalry there, no one has a rivalry with Canberra, no one cares about Canberra, so when he mentioned he wrote Nobody Knows in Canberra he started talking about how he doesn't want to start a fight between the two cities on both nights before anyone even had a chance to react.

At least he played supernatural tonight, but I think that was the only difference in the setlist, he didn't play Sweet Release, but otherwise it was all the same in a slightly different order. His voice wasn't quite as good tonight, he tried for a few notes that he just wasn't getting to.

I think I had more fun listening to the two drop kicks sitting infront of me, they were hilarious. One of them continually called out for "Wings" to be played all night, the other one looked angry all the time at everyone and everything. When Ed explained how he had to change the lyric in Heaven from Daughter to Daughters, they didn't understand it, but then when the song was being played and Ed sang 'Daughters' they both absolutely lost it in a fit of laughter like the penny just dropped. When Lightning Crashes started one goes "fuck! I didn't think he was gonna play it!" they rocked out to it and then never said another word for the entire rest of the gig and sat looking extremely bored. Strange blokes. One looked like a gorilla he was so hairy and the other looked like he didn't have a hair on his body, maybe the other dude stole them all..

Either way, it was an OK night, no where near as good as the first.

Been a while between posts, but I thought I'd drop by to give a quick review of the EK show at the Enmore.

Was stoked to get 2nd row tickets in the presale so was a nice change from sitting in the nosebleeds at previous +Live+ shows. Setlist was the same as the second Melb show (literally - he didn't even bother printing off a new one lol.gif )

Reading some of the reviews above it seems like he recycled a lot of the banter as well! Changing the lyrics to Heaven, rivalry with Can-BEAR-a, etc hehe.gif

Having listened to a few of his recent solo bootlegs, I was blown away by how different the experience of an Ed acoustic show is in the flesh - his vocals are really strong at the moment, the energy he gives off and the way he fills the whole venue with his voice is really something. And some of the upbeat songs like I Alone and All Over You totally rocked out rockin.gif , he was clearly feeding off the audience who were pretty loud and animated (...for a Sydney crowd tongue.gif).

Highlight of the night for me though came after the show when I got to go backstage to finally meet the man (thanks to Megan at livefuss for running the meet'n'greet comp thumbsup.gif).

It was a pretty surreal experience, tucking into the wine and nibbles that were left out for us while we waited for Eddie to make his entrance. He was very gracious in giving everyone in the room time for a chat, photo and autograph. I brought in my beloved 12" vinyl collection (Four Songs, MJ, TC, SS, TDTH) and he signed them all, remarking "wow, haven't seen these albums in a loooong time - mine are all packed up in the garage!".

I also got the chance to ask a couple of quick questions, firstly about a possible future release of the MTV Unplugged DVD: "I don't think so man, get em off youtube!" (or heretongue.gif ) and whether we'll ever see 'Hold Me Up' officially released: "yeah, not sure, one of those things where the old record company owns the rights..."; or the rumoured 15 Year Anniversary edition of Throwing Copper: "uh, maybe a 20 year edition!" sad.gif

So there you go. I also met Toggsy from TheWebShow backstage, he finally got his Eddie interview and it's up now: thewebshow.tv
