I kinda have this image in my head whenever he goes into a furious rant

IPB Image

That's actually footage of him hearing 'Dirty Water, Lotus Flower' for the first time.

QUOTE(Badman @ Aug 2 2009, 6:12 am) *

I heard it... went to this site expecting everybody to think the song was good and I see you all hate it. I like the song in most ways.

I'm with ya man, except I read the opinions here before I actually had a chance to listen to it. So I finally put it on expecting to hate it, and... I found myself liking it a lot smile.gif.

Uninspired lyrics aside (Happy-Ed will never write like he the poetic questioning-the-world lyrics he used to, get over it), I think the most exciting thing about this song is the vocal delivery. It has balls. Reminds me of the TDTH era, which is of course a very good thing nod.gif. Most importantly, not a trace of that annoying falsetto vomit.gif

As for the haters of the music itself - remember it's a collaboration. It's certainly no worse than any of the officially released Live remixes we got in the 90's...

I didn't know how to just delete the picture. But you said you found Eddie K's new single cover for the new song and showed the most disgusting picture of feces that i'd ever seen.

OK

I did find the cover to the Dirty Water, Lotus Flower single:

So do I.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but I'm actually deriving a perverse sense of amusement from reading this guy's posts. His insults aside (you shit for brains asswipe, you brain dead cock cruncher), he's actually kinda funny to read. smile.gif

Anyone else feel me on this one?

rockin.gif I so agree. Luke is one of the main reasons I am still here. His creative put downs are legendary.

I really don't understand all of the hate. And this is much more interesting than Cornell's awful effort. It actually reminds me far more of Seal or Sting than anything else. It's a well mixed single with the sounds that Ed always had a fetish for-middle eastern. I think it's pretty cool.

Word has it the song debuted (or will debut) on Dutch radio this evening. Didn't heard it myself, but think this is really soon and weird. The song didnt sound finsihed to me at all, and by that it doesn't sound like a (lead) single or to promote Eddie. More just experimenting.

Then again, the Dutch radio DJ's just have a weird crazyness to play anything new related to this band, as Live is still kinda famous in Holland. I'm curious if they mentioned - or will mention - sometjing about a break-up...

Well, we don't care about Cornell and what he's done. Thanks for trying to justify this bad song with a random artist and how he performs.

Ed can do better and should.

I agree with you.
It's typical Ed, the vocals are actually really impressive all the way through, and it's got some cool sounds to it. I dig the "dirty water" at :54. That's all Ed. Some of you are taking his new work too seriously.. you're failing to see the humor in it. Overall, I dig it.

I was referring to someone else who compared this song to Cornell's collaboration with Timbaland and I wasn't trying to justify anything through that comparison. Ed can and should do whatever the hell he wants because it's his music.

If Ed decided to put on his old pair of balls and make another throwing copper just because his fans begged him to I wouldn't want it because it's not what he wants to do. Unfortunately his heart has been in a strange sort of lackadaisical creative paralysis since their steady downfall of popularity.

Artists change, and if the fans dictated that change, artists wouldn't be artists anymore. Ed needs to do what he wants to do, and unfortunately for us, it's not what we want him to do.

I thought the song sounded funky and fun and that's the sum of it.
