I haven't posted in here in a long time but I felt the need to.... This song is complete crap. Ed has fucking lost it and the rest of the band decided to wise up and go another direction.

I am looking forward to hearing some new stuff from PD, CG and CT and Mr Candlebox and have no desire to listen to Ed if this is the kind of crap he is going to put out.

I've been a huge Live fan since about 1993 and probably have seen 20 of their shows. I'm sure they'll get back together at some point to play some of the old stuff but I just don't see any more new music coming from LIVE.

Exactly, thank you. Uncreative, untalented, poorly written non sensical bullshit is what this poor attempt at music is. Complete and utter garbage.

Call it opinion all you want...anybody who knows anything about music will laugh in your fucking face.

I know exactly which side I'm on. you're just not intelligent enough to understand the separation in what I'm saying. so never mind. Carry on with your life as usual. Thanks for playing.

QUOTE(Infrequent Poster @ Jul 31 2009, 11:57 am) *

Repetition always makes for a sterling replacement to logic. Reasons be damned, you're right and so long as you keep talking it's got to be true!

Everything you've stated has been an opinion. Random citings of imaginary musicians does not equate to fact. You don't like the song. That's great. I'm not a big fan either. You think its musical crap. Wonderful, glad for you. However, just because you think that doesn't make it anymore true to anyone else then what I think about the song. Music is subjective. There is no real technical basis for how you can judge pop songs other then each individual deciding what they think sucks and what they think doesn't suck.

You're setting arbitrary standards for comparison. You're "bad music" is not someone else's bad music. The "realm of good music" is not an ironclad standard everyone follows (beyond of course simple things like staying in meter and not playing bum notes everywhere). I'm going to randomly say the "realm of good music" is set by Chopin. By extension everything not written to his level complexity for any instrument is crap. Sorry, Springsteen, you don't make the cut!

An absurd example, yes, but it is how you are approaching this argument. You've set arbitrary standards and claimed them as objective facts.

LMFAO....my bad music??? Nothing arbitrary about it son. There is a very simple standard for what constitutes good music from a technical standpoint. Do I honestly need to explain them to you? Because if I do, you've got to be a bigger fucking idiot than Nick is when it comes to his fanboy-isms.

Nothing arbitrary about any standard I've mentioned, for I haven't mentioned any, you shit for brains asswipe. Musical taste is subjective. Musical talent from a technical standpoint isn't. It's almost 100% fucking objective my friend. It's arrangement and composition may be more on the subjective side, but the actual talent isn't.

Now, you brain dead cock cruncher, this song took no talent whatsoever to make. The lyrics are completely fucking kife and the music itself took not one ounce of talent to create. There's no thought process involved, no creativity, no structure, no intricacy. Fuck, do I actually need to go on any further? Or are you unable to understand what I'm saying neither.

Jesus fucking Christ, have people actually become this god damned inadequate intelllectually? I honestly don't know why I'm continually stunned at the inability of some people to understand basic concepts such as this. The world is seriously going to shit. I feel so fucking sorry for my children and theirs. WOW.

Ed commented a bit on his new song in his new blog yesterday:

QUOTE

The top video streaming on the media page is a song I wrote with Karsh Kale called "Dirty Water, Lotus Flower". If you don't know who Karsh is, please get those googling fingers googling and those itunes accounts primed and find out! You won't be disappointed, he's incredible. We plan to do a lot more music and even some shows together.

And about his new record in general:

QUOTE
I'm also still putting the finishing touches on my record and will begin recording very soon. Super excited to get started and the songs are already big hits around the homestead. A 7 year old will give it to you straighter than tommy motola on your material, and Ana loves it all! so there you go smile.gif

So do I.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but I'm actually deriving a perverse sense of amusement from reading this guy's posts. His insults aside (you shit for brains asswipe, you brain dead cock cruncher), he's actually kinda funny to read. smile.gif

Anyone else feel me on this one?

Liverocks has always been in a class of his own. Sometimes inbetween all his enraged insults he makes some good points, other times he's off the mark, and other times I have no idea what he's talking about, but he never fails to bring the goods when it comes to insults.
I've had the image of him at McDonalds or somewhere of the like ordering a coke with no ice only to discover that ice has indeed been added to his beveridge which then leads him to tell the staff just exactly how he feels about that (I don't need to give an example of how that would go down, i think we could all guess! ) He's always fighting the good fight of objective vs subjective which dates all the way back to the days of Liverocks vs Mcpheezy who from memory started out hating each other and then actually got along quite well.

Either way, the man deserves a beer.

Gotta admit, I read the guys posts. Even if I disagree or he's being totally out there and crazy, they're usually fun to read. Probably helps that I've never felt his wrath. Well, except when I questioned the greatness of Imagine - but - even then, we worked it out. I would'nt buy him a bear, though. I'm too tight.

From a veteran Live fan......I love it. smile.gif

I heard it... went to this site expecting everybody to think the song was good and I see you all hate it. I like the song in most ways.

I like that it doesn't sound like adult contemporary trash.

I like that it lasts more than four minutes.

I like that there are no similes

I like the far off sounding vocals

This song is way better than believe and it sounds like FUMBLE meets The Ride with better lyrics than all of V. It does sound like a V song but without the rapping.

I know you guys will probably tear up my opinion but whatever... I am with you guys on the fact that Ed needs to shut up about Zion and that the new album will probably be called "Return to Zion" where Ed plays his most arrogant role ever as Jesus Christ. heynow.gif

Hehehe, nah, I rarely get pissed off enough to do anything crazy. I'm actually fairly understanding and easily get my point across in those instances without being too abrasive.

With one exception, don't touch me. A few weeks back, a member poked me at work and I warned him against doing it again. When he tried, I got grab of a few fingers and tried my damndest to tear them off. The only thing that stopped me was the shrill pitch of his shriek. It was deafening enough to cause me to let go almost instantly.

Got sent home three days paid pending an investigation and was simply warned of touching another member. So I called the police into my directors office later in my shift upon return and had them explain to him that I have every right to defend myself within reason. Boss was none too pleased, but do I give a fuck??? LOL, ummm, no maybe? Told him to respect his own employees who work to make him look good, by barring members who assault our employees.

Anyways, I can throw around some petty insults, sure. It's a habit of the guys in our department at work. It's actually a joke thing for all of us and when I do it online, I'm really just calling you a dumbass in a Red Foreman type way. No offense intended really. I just happen to be of the opinion that most of you, and society in general, are pretty fucking stupid. Again, no offense intended.

I was going to call him a prick, but now I'm not so sure.

As for the song, I don't think too much of it. It just seems like Ed branching out in yet another direction, for better or worse - but it's just a separate colaboration, not the lead single from his record. I like the vocals though. But it sounds like something off one of those World Music Compilation albums you can buy, but probably wouldn't.
